sir,Mr Anthony Montague Brown was WSC^s last private Secretary, devoted friend who has written very fine memoirs of years spent with GREATEST MAN OF THE WORLD- SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL. He spent 13 years of his life with WSC and CSC and this is only bookhe has written. Although Martin Gilbert has written 8 volumes of biography of WSC and others have also written about the life of this great man of the World- with him died the British Empire and British Clout in world affairs. This is unique book about WSC and CSC. The writer has very honestly depicted his experience with him when Britain was passing through a very critical pace of its history. His language is lucid, fascinating and with good flow.Once a person from US dropped the letter with address ^The greatest man of world England^ and the postman delivered the letter to SirChurchill without asking anybody at the address of Sir WinstonIt was most unfortunate for Indian Sub Continent that in 1945 elections his party lost and Labor party formed the government,Lord Mountbatten was appointed last Viceroy of India and his tenure had been horribly marred by the huge massacres at PARTITION WHICH CAN BE BLAMED, at least in part .on the haste with which British withdrawal of control took place. If WSC would have been Prime Minister such unfortunate massacres would not have occurred. But it was not to be. He would have dealt with the grim situation differently. The writer is no more in the world but his book will live for everHe has rightly quoted^For want of me the world^ course will not failWhen all its work is done the lie shall rotThe truth is great and shall prevailWhen none cares whether it prevail or not.^I have enjoyed the book and very strongly recommend the same to others as must read^.

Fascinating read
Anyone who is interested in history, literature, or even just gossip will find much to like in this book. It paints a vivid picture of a time when Britain was in decline, with interesting insights into life behind the scenes. It is much more than just a dry political memoir, though, as in his last years Churchill socialised with figures such as Aristotle Onassis and Maria Callas. The author's wartime experiences are also compelling reading.

Written with style, humour and affection. A fascinating insight into Churchill's later life from a unique perspective; someone who wasn't a member of his family but was closer to him than almost anyone else during his final years of life. I found it a compelling read.
