Give it a chance
Diving straight into this short novel you will instantaneously draw towards vibes of other stories such as "The Divergent Series" or "The Hunger Games". Reading through the beginning half of the book there is no doubt that what was inscribed on the manuscripts did contain themes that many other teen novels used which supported their huge rise in sales. Yet what this author provides is a real look into the current situation on our planet. As a watcher of Joey Graceffa for what can be considered a very long time now, you can tell that he has many interests and beliefs about how the world/humans should function. The novel in basis is very fast to the point which in the end leaves countless unexplained or open details which impede on the reader. As the reader you will be thrown into the life of the female protagonist and her journey. Now you could argue that her journey is short in the bigger aspect. In a mere 278* pages or so we learn of her situation, what has happened, a course of action, and an ending. In result, the novel lacks huge detail in simple cases, meaning that where detail should of been added or another chapter instead of ending information abruptly.Joey Graceffa did succeed on a level that most fail, bluntly forcing a topic to the readers. The ecological concerns in the present world are serious (in my own opinion, as is everything else in a review) what we face is due to the harm acted upon by us human residents. The polluting factors put into our world each day by the tons, the large economic effect caused by it. Maybe the author was not attempting to guide younger readers to notice how harsh we treat our planet, and was just looking for an interesting twist to his novel. Nevertheless the problem within this book could be a problem in our future. I do not mean to harp or turn this into a lecture, just supporting a claim that the topics within the book are unique in some/most cases.Should you buy the short novel?Reading is only ever constructive. If you have even the smallest interest I would suggest giving the book a try, something extremely short, can be read within a period of six hours. Might even open some eyes to real world problems and how we can correct them. This novel is getting four stars from me because I believe three would be too low and it barely reaches four. As stated in previous comments the book takes ideas from other sources and jumbles them up together into this, along with unique/interesting visions of a possible future. The novel is short and should be containing some more details to wrap up points. If a part two was to be released maybe we would see answered questions there, but right now the canvas is missing parts that make it a masterpiece. Give the novel a chance, if you don't enjoy it half way through then stop, even write out your concerns about it on a review for future readers. It is a small price to pay for something you might really enjoy, or even give as a gift to a friend.

Good but not great.
I've been holding off on writing this review for awhile now...because I can't give this book 5 stars. I have seen Joeys YouTube videos but I'm not an avid fan just an occasional viewer. But even as an occasional viewer I know what he likes. Joey likes crystals. And he incorporates these into this novel. But I'm sorry, the whole crystal underground doesn't make sense all. And the whole "here's a crystal necklace to symbolize your one of us" also doesn't make sense because no one else wears crystals in this society and there are no crystals anywhere else. So if someone gets caught and a crystal is found around their neck don't you think the police will find that suspicious and start looking for where they got a crystal from? That's just one of the things I had an issue with. Another is that the back grounds of the side characters are shallow. The whole book actually seems shallow. This book doesn't make me want to read the second book. It has all the components of being a good book but doesn't go deep enough to catch my love. I read a LOT of books...like 100 books a year...but I can't say that this is a favorite. My advice (since I'm also a novance writer) would be to create more depth. Don't rush your book. Explain what's going on in details. This book is fiction but has characteristics of reality and possible outcomes of situations that could happen to our society; because of those factors you should create situations in your books that aren't too far fetched.I don't know if any of this made a lot of sense. But it's my honest opinion. I congratulate him for making a novel and putting himself out there for the world to criticize. But I wouldn't think this should be a NY Times Best Seller. The only reason it is is because he's a famous YouTuber. Which I've been seeing a lot lately. Books that aren't good becoming good sellers just because of their celebratory status (i.e Kim Kardashian selfie book)This is all just my opinion tho so feel free to form your own.

Fantastic story; well worth the money.
I am usually quite skeptical of any book written by an entertainer because, if I'm being honest, most of the time they aren't very good. I hadn't read Joey's other book, and I'm really only what I would call a "casual" Joey Graceffa fan in general, but I thought the concept of this novel sounded like something I might enjoy so I decided to give it a shot. I can now safely say it was money well spent and that this novel does young adult fiction absolutely right. The first chapter felt a bit overwhelming as the main concepts of the book were introduced, but from there onward I could not put the book down. In many young adult novels I've read, the characters are lacking in personality and seem very flat and stereotypical. That isn't the case with Children of Eden. Each character has a multi-layered personality with strengths as well as flaws. The main character, a teenage girl named Rowan, has emotions that are conveyed remarkably well and having been a sixteen-year-old girl myself once, I could relate to what she was feeling many times throughout the book. Rowan has meaningful relationships with other characters in the book that add to the story rather than detracting from the main plotline. Many of her emotions toward other people are intense and grow and change over a short time span, but I felt that in the context of the story they made perfect sense where they might otherwise feel jarring. Overall, this was a beautiful, well-constructed story that has become an instant favorite. To anyone skeptical, as I was, I highly recommend you give this book a chance if you enjoy young adult fiction with a sci-fi element. The end of the book left me begging for more and I do hope for more literature from Joey in the future.

Interesting Dystopian YA
This is an interesting YA Sci-fi book set in a dystopian future on Earth after the Ecofail (when the Earth died, which might be more fact than fiction before long). We follow the protagonist Rowan a teenager confined to living in secret while her family go about their business as usual and hide her from the outside world. Soon however her whole world will change but is it for the better? The concept of Eden, the new land where humans live controlled by AI is really interesting and well done although a little predictable at times. It’s a good storyline, although not the most complicated plot, you know where it’s going but it has some nice likeable characters and it goes along at a good pace. It is exciting albeit a little immature at times, however it makes for some easy reading.I really enjoyed the ideas and themes in this book: the EcoFail, the EcoPanoptican which looks after/controls all humans and what it means to be free. The story however is so close to the book 1984 and the concept of big brother it felt almost like plagiarism at times. It has some of the same ideas throughout and on occasions it is incredibly similar. If you liked this book and haven’t read 1984 you should definitely give it a go.I’m rating this 3.5 (it would higher but I feel some of the ideas are not exactly original) however I am rounding up as it was a good enjoyable read, rounding down wouldnt be fair.

My son enjoyed the book however the actual quality or the product was appalling. Considering the price of it I was very disappointed as it was twisted and the cover peeled off after 2 days.
