Moana Big Golden Book (Disney Moana) Hardcover – Picture Book, October 4, 2016

We purchased the movie Moana on release day and my kids loved it! They love stories and I love to read to them so I figured it would be good to get them a Moana book. I debated between the Moana Little Golden Book (Disney Moana) and this one and purchased this version for several reasons. First, my twins are now four and sitting through longer stories. This version was also only a couple dollars more at the time and we like a more in-depth story. Lastly, I like the illustrations in the Big Golden Books more than the Little Golden Books since they look the most like the images in the movie, at least in our experience.Moana is the story of a chief's daughter who has felt drawn to the ocean from a very young age. The story is set somewhere in the Pacific Islands and Moana yearns to know what is beyond the reef but it's forbidden to venture out that far. She also makes a discovery about her ancestors but still has no idea who she is. As is typical in most of the more recent Disney stories, this one is filled with adventure, some humor, and a beautiful storyline.This book is just like other BGB so it will fit in perfectly with your collection. It has hardcovers, glossy, colorful pages, and the gold spine. This book measures almost 9 inches by 11 inches. There are 40 pages to the actual story, along with a few additional pages. Each set of pages has several paragraphs and beautiful, vibrant pictures that help describe what's going on in the story. This story captures the main points of the movie and will take about 15 minutes to read, give or take a few, depending on how much you talk about the story.My kids love this story and have asked for it several times since we've had it! I love the story as well and feel it is a good, descriptive version of the movie. Sometimes my kids will just sit and page through the book, looking at the pictures. They loved it so much that we purchased one for our nephew since he likes the movie too.We love this book and highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys the movie and wants a book version. If the other BGB stories we have are any indication, this one will be greatly loved and we have read it several times already. It's a great bedtime story or one for any time of the day!

These Big Golden Books are fantastic. They're detailed, well illustrated, high quality and thorough. We have quite a few of them...they're fantastic!This tells the story from the movie Moana in great detail. Because the book is longer you really get the entire story - not the glossed over version that's in so many shorter books. The illustrations are fantastic. They look like they come straight from the film!This isn't a quick read. It's a 10-15 minute read-aloud story. My kids love it (ages 4 and 6) and will happily sit through this entire book again and again.The books themselves are very well made. They have hard covers and hold up well to repeated readings.I can't recommend these Big Golden Books highly enough - love love love them!

This book has great artwork and my daughter is obsessed with it. Much better and more thorough than the smaller golden of course.

Gorgeous graphics! My two year old daughter is obsessed with Moana. The book is actually quite long to read for a toddler, but it is very thorough in retelling the story and I know she will love it as she grows. For now we just talk about the pictures. Love the big Golden Books and this one is a great addition to our library.

The story is very similar to the movie. My granddaughter "reads" her book while watching the movie. Illustrations are beautiful.

When I ordered this, I expected a normal Golden Book with a cardboard cover but was surprised to find that it was a larger hardcover book. The story is detailed and follows the movie plot. It’s pictures are slightly more cartoony than the movie but still detailed and nice. I took away a star due to some binding issue. The top of the binding isn’t attached correctly. This causes the bottom of the pages to sit much further into the spine and the top to lay almost flat. I’m going to exchange it for this reason. My kids would destroy this loose binding otherwise.

Perfect for toddler!! Not only is this book large, but unlike the regular sized golden books this book has way more pictures. The pages are all pictures with the words ontop instead of a whole page of words with one picture. It was beyond perfect for my two year who LOVES Moana but can’t read yet.
