INDIGO WILDE AND THE CREATURES AT JELLYBEAN CRESCENT

Beautifully illustrated books
My 8 yo daughter was bought these last year as a birthday present from her best friend. Fab fantasy story with really creative character names. Basically all the stories feature the theme of inclusivity - all the magical creatures have been cast out as they are somehow different from their friends. The illustrations are bright and absolutely gorgeous in their level of detail and imagination.

“Mam can you buy me the best one?”
I bought this for my daughter because I loved the bright cover! It’s taken a while for her to pick it up and read it as her confidence has been knocked. Once she started reading Indigo Wilde I had to put reading time limits on at bedtime as she wouldn’t put it down! She has asked me several times “can you buy me the next one?” It was lively to hear her belly laughing and telling me the story as she read about the creatures. So creative, book 2 in paper back preordered!

Utterly fabulous and bonkers fun
I don’t do amazon reviews…. I really did go out of my way to write this.Bright, fun and detailed illustrations throughout. Imaginative characters with easy to read, well crafted sentences. “Made up” word. My little boy who “hates books” has just giggled his way through 3 chapters and declared this the best book ever.Putting in order for book 2!

Colourful, action-packed and very imaginative, but a little rushed/busy
Packed with magical creatures, rainbow poo and colourful chaos, this looked to be a surefire winner in our house! Both kids (8 & 5) loved the wonderful, full-colour illustrations throughout, which are bursting with vibrant details, and the characters were well-conceived and clever.I think the only issue we had here was that there were a lot of characters and a lot of action, but not a lot of plot to hang it all on. The story involves Indigo and her brother Quigley chasing up and down through their house after a strange new monster that is on the rampage, visiting most of their unusual house guests as they go. But we didn't get to stay anywhere or with anyone long enough to get a real feel for them before they were off again chasing the next disaster, right up to the rather sudden end.I would have loved for this to either be a picture book, with all of the characters and colour but less detail, or for it to have been slightly longer and given us a chance to get to know everyone a bit BEFORE the mysterious monster rocks up and starts wreaking havoc. That said, this is such a promising set-up that we absolutely HAVE to get the next book, so this might turn out to be a fave series yet!
