This is a powerful book.I don’t think you can be ally without educating yourself about Black History and Black leaders. Some of Marcus Garvey’s beliefs regarding other racial groups I find unsavory, I have no desire to further perpetuate the us and them paradigm, but in the context of when the material was written I can appreciate and understand why he probably felt that way. Overall, it goes without saying Marcus Garvey had very intelligent ideas about education, bettering yourself, and perseverance. I’m so glad I took the time to read this book.

This book has helped me in many ways of learning my culture

Even though I read this book some 30 years ago, upon reading it again recently I found so much more information that I had totally forgotten from your past.

I would consider this work of Marcus Garvey essential reading for all African Americans and Black people worldwide. Some of his ideology might be a little outdated but this book is still essential.
