Great stand, great quality and great price
I purchased this cymbal stand to add a 10" Pintech crash cymbal to my Alesis Surge kit. Stand is crazy sturdy enough for playing and I haven't had any issues so far. I actually purchased another one for a 14" Pintech cymbal that should arrive tomorrow. The only negative thing I have to say about this stand is that it doesn't come with a clamp for electric kits. That's my only gripe and Gibraltar sells a excellent clamp for about $19 on Amazon and that's what I'm using to mount this stand to my drum rack now. I'm so satisfied that I purchased another stand and clamp for my 14" cymbal that's on their way!!!

It's Small But It Can Hold The Biggest Cymbal You Put On It!
After just buying a PDP drum rack with the side extension, I knew I was going to need a cymbal arm to hold my ride. So I started looking around and come across a few Gibraltar cymbal arms for racks. Well the description and video on their site said it's made for use with splashes and little accent cymbals and there was no word if it could be used with heavier cymbals like a 20" ride. Well I was a bit worried that it might be too small but after I compared a few of the arms to this one and considering that the lock on this arm looked more heavy duty than the one on the larger cymbal arm, I had a gut feeling this would hold up just fine and..... it does! I have the Sabian B8 performance pack for just something to start with, which are FANTASTIC starter cymbals BTW and this arm holds the ride without breaking a sweat. You could put one of the heaviest and biggest rides out there onto this arm and it wouldn't budge! So yeah I am very happy with it and the Gibraltar name! This review was to show that if you want a shorter arm to hold a heavy cymbal that there is no need to worry! Get it you won't be let down!

Telescoping Boom Arm
These are the level of quality I've come to expect from Gibraltar hardware. I especially love that it telescopes the smaller extension inside the main arm, so you can have a simple boom, or a jointed arm.

dropping a star-
the price is right. Quality is good except for one hitch-where the ratcheting mechanism is joined to the main arm (the arm that you put into a multi-clamp...the "bottom portion: that doesn't have the tilter)..it is secured by nothing more than a small "dimple"of a rivet-if you want to call it that. I actually hang this one upside down in a multi clamp and the last one failed-but i needed a replacement quick and cheap (I plan to fix the original with a screw or full rivet). But-the rest is pretty decent quality for the money, and i do use this differently than normal-most will use it upright where gravity won't be a factor, but it still could be made a bit better there...UPDATE- this is the second one I have had. both failed. A small dimple rivet is not a sufficient fastener to hold together two pipes that you are going to be bashing stuff around upon- plus moving. have used vintage equipment that holds up better than this. I have "no name" cymbal arms that don't fall apart like this has. I will drill out and improve the fastening, but that seems ridiculous in a way.Update 2- I have drilled and installed a roll pin into each, to replace the inferior fastener between the lower shaft and the upper tilter collar. I suggest doing this if you are only using it as a boom and not a straight stand. If you plan on using it as a straight stand- then find a different way to secure the top. This could be an excellent low cost arm if it didn't have that one flaw. But it is easily remedied.

worth the money and it's sturdy
this boom arm is not only sturdy and easy to work with, but it converts into a straight arm as well i definitely recommend

The best 3rd party drum accessories
If you're going to buy any drum accessories that are not from one of the major drum companies, Gibraltar is the company you should choose. The quality of build is excellent, and I have some Gibraltar stands from almost 20 years ago, still perfect!

Solid stand that is incapable of being positioned flat
Very useful size/configuration for use on racks or with clamps. Feels as solid as Gibraltar's stuff usually does. One problem: the top stem curves slightly so that it is pretty much impossible to have the cymbal 100% parallel to the floor. Why in the world would anyone design a stand that can't be perfectly straight?! I usually like the reliability of gear tilters, but with this stand it's either offset one way or the other. I bought two and they both have this ridiculous issue.
