Q: Can anyone tell me what type of sole this shoe has and can you wear it outdoors. Thank you.

The sole is definitely able to be worn outside, but there is absolutely no support and they will wear quickly on a rough surface. It's barely more than a slipper.

Yes. I have wide feet and mine fits great.

Q: I wear 7.5/8 and i plan to wear this with socks in the plane . What size would be best?

I wear a size 7 shoe and bought 7-8 size. I wear light peds with mine which are great. I have a wide foot and a heavier cotton sock was not comfortable for me. I think it would depend on how heavy the socks are. Hope this is helpful.
