I originally purchased this product to make “thick bacon” on our outdoor grill and avoid grease splashing all, when we used to cook bacon inside.Mission “well-accomplished” on this topic and we now can replicate the quality of the best local breakfast place bacon.That said, this grilling plate has proven to be useful for cooking veggies and other items that are could easily fall inside the grill too.I believe you’ll be very pleased if you decide to purchase this product.

It’s a little narrow for the gas stove. Otherwise it works well for me.

Got this as a gift for my husband. He loved it.

The MAX K 2-IN-1 CAST IRON GRILL/GRIDDLE is a convenient way to get the benefits of cast iron cooking on different cooking surfaces.WHAT YOU GETThe MAX K GRILL/GRIDDLE is ~20” wide, ~ 10” deep and 1” thick. The unit is a single piece made of cast iron, one side is flat and the other side is vertically ribbed. Each side has a slightly recessed length-wise “trough” that serves as a grease-collector and there are cut-out cast iron handles on each end of the grill/griddle. There are no moving parts and the entire unit is all cast iron.HOW IT PERFORMSThis grill/griddle combo provides the benefits of cast iron cooking (natural non-stick surface, retains high heat and seasons more after each use) on many different surfaces. At almost 8 ½ lbs., it is very solid, and its size makes it useful both in the kitchen (oven, some stovetops) and outdoor (grill or firepit). I like the two-in-one option to flip the unit for either a flat cooking surface or a grilling surface with thick and deep ribs. As expected, the unit gets HOT and stays hot (benefit of cooking with cast iron). I primarily use this in my smoker grill as it reduces the cooking time and adds a flavor dimension. I also appreciate the large cooking surface that fits perfectly inside my grill and in the oven.The built-in handles make cleaning super easy … you just must wait a good while for it to cool down enough to handle without gloves.While this grill/griddle can used on pretty much anything, it is better suited for some stovetops than others. Even though I can use this on my flat stovetop, I’m a little leery of possibly mishandling the grill/griddle and dropping it on the glass.Overall, this grill/griddle adds a nice dimension to our outdoor grilling. It is a simple, well-designed cooking tool that can be used in many ways.

I used this heavy, cast iron grill inside my wood pellet smoker to add grill lines to steaks and chops and was very pleased with the results. I.e., the meats not only tasted delicious but also looked great when served.I noticed that meats cooked on top of this grill took less time to reach their target internal temperatures than meats cooked on the stainless steel smoker racks. This was not an issue since I used a digital meat probe, several times, during my cooking but I point this out for your benefit.Unfortunately, I did not pre-spray the grill with a no-stick spray prior to cooking so, the excess marinade and seasonings burned on and took a bit of extra effort to remove. That was my oversight and not the fault of the grill but hopefully you will not repeat my mistake.The two handles on the grill/griddle made it easier to remove it from the smoker and made it easier to grip during cleanup. Wow! Perfect for camping! We do a lot of camping and the kids always want pancakes. This works great. We have used it over the fire on a metal stand over the fire and also on the grill! Both work great. We did spread some oil over the top to keep it from sticking. Easy to clean up! We tried burgers over the fire and the grease did go in the grooves. Clean up was pretty easy for that too. The griddle is heavy and it has some rough spots, but that is like any cast iron pan. The grill is already pre-seasoned and should not rust. I think this will last a long time! So excited about getting this.

Grilled hamburgers one day, then country style ribs another and both stuck to the griddle. Hard to clean.
