Happy Reading
I'm a fan of historical Western romance books and author Catherine Anderson brings every character and story line alive in every book she writes. The descriptions of the hero Race's courage, bravery and compassion would make any woman's heart melt. Rebecca's strength of spirit and loving heart was a perfect match with Race.As they shared their fears and hopes they grew to be friends and in time more. The challenges they faced were sometimes gruesome but with trust for each other, they confronted them. They secondary characters were so carefully drawn that I felt I knew them with even without many words. Race's leadership of his men was full of wisdom though the few bad judgements that he makes served to make even more believable.Deep spiritual beliefs are explored in the book. I found them adding depth to the entire story. The differences in Rebecca and Race's education is compelling and woven into the book flawlessly. The book moved along at a good pace. The twists and turns in the plot happened at just the right time to keep the book interesting. There is plenty of humor and just the right amount of passionate love making.I've read some of the author's books more than once and they always seem fresh. If you pick up this book, you'll soon be looking to read more of Catherine Anderson's bboks.

Awesome read!
Oh my gosh. I LOVE THIS BOOK! Before I began reading, I knew it would be good since I haven’t read one of Mrs. Anderson’s that wasn’t. This book actually took me by surprise. It wasn’t long into the book before Race came upon the carnage that was left at the wagon train. I felt like I was right there seeing what he was seeing. The descriptions were vivid without the horror of it being overly done. The mood of the following chapters were somber as Rebecca battled the memories of the attack and the very constant fear of her pursuers. At times, these chapters were intense and you could imagine the feelings she was experiencing with this constant threat. But then, out of the darkness, comes a breath of fresh air in the form of humor. This was such a welcome reprieve, that I laid in bed snickering so hard I was afraid I’d wake my husband. And it didn’t stop with that chapter. Mrs. Anderson was brilliant with the dialogue between characters! I absolutely fell in love with Race. What a man! I will definitely keep this book in my collection to read over and over. Well done, Mrs. Anderson!

CHERISH - Lovely & Memorable Western Romance
Lately I've been re-reading stories by some of my favorite authors and CHERISH is one of those. I've read all but one of Catherine Anderson's historical romances and have enjoyed them all immensely. Although this isn't one of my favorites (Annie's Song, Comanche Moon, Keegan's Lady, and Coming up Roses are) your opinion may differ from mine. Ms. Anderson is a remarkably talented author who's writing always moves me emotionally. Every book of hers I've read has been unforgettable and each one still stands out in my mind and memory even to this day! Please be aware that this is oftentimes a really brutal and sad story. When Race first finds Rebecca she is the lone survivor of a devastating massacre, has lost everything, and is a terrified and broken young woman. Rebecca is from a cloistered religious community, and Race is an uneducated ex-gunslinger. These two were polar opposites and made a most unlikely couple, but together I thought they were perfect for each other. Rebecca was clingy, scared, and needy throughout most of the story but with all she went through and witnessed, I couldn't hold it against her. Race rescues her, cares for her, and loves her without question or reservation and was a true hero in every sense of the word. His love for Rebecca was utterly beautiful and ultimately it is Race's love, guidance, and faith that will give her the strength to stand on her own again...This book did have a few slow going moments for me, and I didn't feel as much of an understanding or connection with Rebecca as I did with Race, and is basically my reason for giving it four stars instead of five. Somehow, even with it being so serious and heartbreaking at times, there were also some amusing moments that made me laugh too. They were just so different, from the way they thought and even talked. Overall it was a really touching romance though. I also adored the epilogue which was too cute, and I ended this story with a big smile on my face =)

great adventure & romance
Excellent! Race & Rebecca. What a great story. I loved every minute of it. It's a very exciting tale with a wonderful romance woven in. Race, a former gunslinger and now a rancher finds Rebecca who is the only survivor of a mass murder. Rebecca has seen her own mother raped & killed. Since Race is on a cattle drive, he and Rebecca form a bond with each other. Rebecca says a beautiful prayer at the death of 12 year old Tag Jones. There are two passages that are usually credited to the bible, but one is not in scripture. Stated correctly they are 1) money is NOT the root of all evil, in scripture the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. The second 2) God helps those who help themselves is not even in the bible. Actually God helps those who help others. Great reading, exciting to the very end. Violence, sensual.

Another winner from Anderson
You just can't go wrong with Catherine Anderson! Epic love story and realistic settings and conversations. When you're reading this you feel like you're watching a movie! I'm an avid historical-romance reader and it doesn't get better than this. Loved it from beginning to end.

Very very touching love story, melts your heart
I have to say I'm addicted to buying Catherine Anderson Novels, I have read many romance novels, but I think I can now say that she is now my favorite. Catherine Anderson isnt afraid to talk about emotional issues and there are plenty to deal with in this book.Rachel's family and friends from her church going community are all murdered and she is the only survivour, she is requested by Race, who becomes her protector. The writer takes you on such an emotional journey, I think I can say its one of the best books I have ever read. Rachel is scared witless, and she sees Race as her only safety net, when he leaves her, she totally panics, a lovely love story is told. Catherine Anderson deals with lots of issues in all of her books and she seems to me to be telling us that love can actually conqour all.I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could.
