4.5 StarsI am one that tries to stay away from love triangles, I'm definitely not a fan, but there was something in the blurb of this book that struck me, and made me go against everything I stay away from and one-click this book, and boy am I glad I did. This isn't your typical love triangle book, and those of you who are hesitant like I was, trust me, you definitely won't regret reading this one.In Black Swan Affair we are introduced to Maverick, who has been in love with Killian for as long as she can remember, problem is, Killian returned home and broke her heart and married her sister. She is doing the only thing she can think of to get her revenge, and marrying her best friend, who happens to be Killian's brother, Kael.This story is complicated, heartbreaking, and so angsty it's not funny. I wanted to hate Maverick at times, and then I wanted to strangle her. She had an amazing man sitting right in front of her and yet she was hung up on the one who hurt her. Every time she would finally let go and let herself be with Kael, really start to be with him, Killian would find a way to worm his way back in and I wanted to scream! There were times in this book I would wonder if Kael really was as good of a guy as he seemed to be, or if he was shady, and the reason why Killian ended up leaving Maverick for her sister. Throughout this book I had so many questions and was always wondering what the secret was as to why Killian did what he did, and if Maverick would cheat, but don't worry, all of your questions will be answered in this book, no question is left unanswered!I must say, the scenes with Kael and Maverick are extremely HOT, you will need a fan when these two get going. The restroom stop on their roadtrip? the stairway? or well, just about any time they were together. These two know how to get busy and make it sensual and hot. Kael is definitely sexy and knows how to dirty talk his way into his wife's panties!No matter who you are rooting for to win Mavericks heart at the end of this story, you will be left happy. One brother will be left heartbroken, but I am hoping that he will get his happily ever after on day. I am happy with who she ended up with, as I believe he was the person she belonged with and the one who she should have been with all along. It may not have been who you would have liked for her to have ended up with, there are mixed reviews, but he brought out the best in her, and I think it was perfect!As the story goes on, we get glimpses into the past, further into the past, as well into the future, and K.L. Kreig weaves an intricate story of how the lives of Maverick, Killian and Kael are intertwined and how the two who end up together, truly were meant to be together. This story was beautifully put together, and at the end of this book, I was emotionally wiped out. I was left staring at my kindle going "where do I go from here?!" This book was beautifully written and I couldn't have asked for a better story. I highly recommend this book, and that's saying a lot since I was so hesitant to read it at first!

4-4.5 STARSWell I’m glad I didn’t judge a book by its cover because this book was so much more than I expected. (I honestly feel the cover does this hook an injustice but that’s just my own opinion)This story broke my heart…several times. It is angsty and painful and many times I needed to step away. However, when I stepped away I constantly thought about where this book was headed and if it was going to end the way I wanted.I’m not going to rehash the story for spoiler reasons but let’s just say this is a serious love triangle that involves family, betrayal, secrets, and a decent amount of steamy scenes. Though this book gutted me, I really, really enjoyed the story, the writing, and the emotional roller coaster it led me on.I’m still undecided if I’m on board with the end. I still have so many thoughts running through my mind. But this is why this book is SO GOOD.

There were no winners in this game. This book damn near killed me and I bloody loved it.“I’m suffocating. The anxiety, the frustration, every single conflicting emotion it was damn near exhausting, but what a ride. I couldn’t put this down, from the very beginning KL Kreig draws you into the life of Maverick, Kael and Killian and she makes you feel. This book hurts, this book makes you think, this book consumes you, this book hits you in the heart and doesn’t let you go, this books makes you ask questions, this book rips your heart in half and leaves you wondering if it could ever be whole again. If this is how me, the reader felt, imagine Maverick herself, torn between love and love/lust. The heart wants who the heart but what happens if it wants two when only one is possible?“Pining after someone’s husband is one thing. Unbeknown to Maverick both brothers love her intensely but her focus is on Killian until she is betrayed in the worst way possible…he married her sister.“You think you want answers, but sometimes it is the truth that destroys, Small Fry, not the lies…”Hell bent of revenge Maverick marries his brother Kael and while she loves Kael with her entire being, she isn’t “in love” with him. He knows this, he knows her heart belongs to another but he will do everything he can to make her love him the way he loves her, it was brutal, but falling in love with your best friend is easy…or is it?“While he was the sun that lit your world, you were the darkness that shadowed mine.”This book was heart wrenching, my heart was decimated, the emotional impact that KL Kreig managed to deliver through her words was intense, she nailed that character connection. I lived this story, I breathed this story, I bloody felt this story from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. This is not your normal love triangle, this is not cut and dry, this is not black or white…nothing is at it seems, but no matter…emotionally, it still hurt.“…There just is no me without you. There never has been.”KL Kreig doesn’t make this easy for you either, by the end of this book I loved both brothers. KL Kreig sucker punches you right up until the end with an impossible decision, my heart couldn’t take it, no matter who lost I would be heartbroken but nothing could have prepared me for the devastation I would feel. While I whole heartedly agree with the decision Maverick made the sense of loss for the one that wasn’t chosen was truly gut wrenching. I cried a freakin’ river, I was despondent, but this is true testament to the incredible writing ability of this author. It is so hard to make you love one man, but to love two, virtually impossible. There is always a front runner, you always pick a favourite and root for them, but for me, this was truly impossible.“He’s the one who has always walked beside me. Selflessly. Silently. Steadfastly. Without exception. Without expectations.”This book is truly unforgettable, this is a book that has plagued my thoughts and feelings for days, this is a book that has left me an emotional wreck even days after reading. Now as I try and formulate my review those feelings have been brought to the fore once again and once again I have tears. This was the ULTIMATE love triangle, the love triangle that has torn me apart the most, this is the love triangle to end all love triangles. Even if you don’t read love triangles, you need to read this one, this is HOW IT IS DONE. Now I am begging and pleading, I need more, the “loser” needs a book, I need that HEA for him, I need to know he is okay. My heart cannot be repaired until I have read it…KL Krieg, I beg you…the journey cannot end here.“It was utterly unforgettable…”

This story is off the script messy.Black Swan Affair wreaked havoc with every part of me. I was torn and conflicted and fought the incessant urge to seek out spoilers or flip to end the angsty torrent that consumed me from page one.Fact: This isn’t a story for everyone but it’s a story I’d recommend time and time again.The writing by Kreig is emotive and outside-the biz. The story itself flowed beautifully, and the connection with the characters was instantaneous.I don’t mind a then-now perspective or one with flashbacks, but I to be present in the moment with each chapter heading to know the what, where, and when.The characters are flawed and the emotions were raw and tangible. Kael will hold a special place as a close-to-perfection mould, he wasn’t.Maverick is so relatable in so many ways and I saw some of my past self in her. Her choices and actions are what a typical romance reader wants to read, and many will judge her because we tend to make women more accountable in these stories.Killian wasn’t my favourite person but I did feel a pang of sorrow and empathy (okay, maybe just sympathy 😅) for him.MaryLou is the best friend every girl needs. Someone to keep it real and be there through it all.The rest of the characters though impactful in some way didn’t carry the weight of their presence as was their part in the story.Eg, Kael and Killian’s dad, their mom and even Jillian.There are a few odds and ends I would’ve liked to see tied up or at least addressed in the conclusion and maybe a little POV from Killian.This is a first by this author and K.L. Every chapter kept me guessing who was the one Marvs was talking about in the present day. Every single chapter I changed my thinking. It was really amazing.Beautiful and heartbreaking at a time, but definitely one that goes fron my KU to my library permanently!

First book by KL Kreig. Last book? Oh hell no. I'll definitely be diving into more books by this fantastic author.Where will life take you when you're in love with one man but marries his brother. Let me tell you there are twists and turns in this book that you won't be able to figure out & then it's like BAM, WOW where'd that come from.Now am I completely satisfied with the ending. Yes & no. It's a beautiful ending and probably the right ending but I'll always wonder "what if".This was a can't put down, phenomenal read all the way!!!

I'm an avid romance reader, although I'm usually not really into the contemporary stuff. This book however, was one hell of a read! Granted, I chose it because of that gorgeous cover... Really, I think I stared at it every day before opening my kindle to read ^^Then I read the blurb and thought I should give it a try. I wasn't disappointed.K.L. Kreig drew me already in with the first paragraph. She has a real talent for writing down emotions, using beautiful words and metaphors without getting too complicated. Omg how I wish I could write like this! This author is the reason I'm frustrated every time I work on my own books because, damn it, mine really, really pale in comparison to what this writer can put on paper...The story was intriguing. I could totally relate to Maverick. The great thing about reading this book is, you don't know the ending until the very ending ^^ Well, at least not until you read three-quarters of the story.There was one point though (attention SPOILER) where I was maybe, just maybe, a tiiiiiny bit disappointed because I thought that Killian was the one who shot Kael in the end. This would have given the whole story another huge boost ^^But who am I to correct this great author – the story was f****** great.@ K.L. WHAT THE EVER LOVING.... OH MY GOODNESS. this book had me waking through the night to finish and find out what really happens. This book will completely throw you of when you think you know completely where the story is going than BANG.. DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING.. wow.. A TOTAL ROLLERCOASTER OF A RIDE. reading this book will literally have you go through so many emotions but one thing is sure that I thought I'll end up hating atleast one of them... But surprisingly came out falling for all three.. Maverick torn between what her heart always wanted and what her heart really needs THIS BOOK WILL COMPLETELY SUCK YOU IN.. you will not breathe until you reach the very end... EPIC... LOVED LOVED THIS ONE 😍 😍
