This is a mecca for goldfinches. If you have them, they will ALL be on this feeder. Works better than a sack feeder.

The first day I replaced my metal mesh feeder with this tube feeder, the American Goldfinch and Pine Siskins were afraid of it. The second day, all three tubes were lined up with the birds back to eating! And I have less nyjer seed is on the ground.

This was a HUGE disappointment. I am an avid birder and was happy to see this new to me feeder. It was Unlike my other feeders so I was happy to purchase.Filled it, hung it and watched. Waited and waited some more Birds flitting all around at the other feeders and this one wasn’t touched.Wasted my seed, holes too small, water seeps in the holes and thin plastic. It’s poorly constructed.My mistake for purchasing this feeder. Took it down this morning and put up an older one in its place. An expensive lesson learned.

I placed mine on a tall Sheppard’s hook in a protected sunny area. Filled it with thistle seed. And refilled it, and refilled it and on and on. Cleaned it out only once after several days of rain just to make sure the seeds did not mold, easy to do - open top and bottom and hosed it out. I literally cannot keep enough thistle seed on hand. The goldfinches eat from all tubes equally. I use just thistle so no squirrel issues. No other birds seem interested in it which is OK with me and the goldfinches.

Kudos to the people that made this because no one else (that I've found) does - and the price is right and YES the birds do come visit. However, what goes unmentioned is just bird genetics - being on the outside makes them fearful. Thus (you guessed it) the center feeder tube will run out of food waaaaaay before the outside tubes FYI. If your OCD is so bad this bothers you visually, seek help and be aware. Otherwise, a very nice if somewhat fragile product.

I like it because food don't get wet, and more birds can perch

I have bought several finch feeders over the years, but this is a huge favorite! When I use fresh Nyjer the finches flock to it. The tubes are larger and harder plastic than other flimsier ones I’ve tried. I suggest that you lightly put the caps on, so they are easy to remove. They will stay on. When I pushed them on tight, it was almost impossible to get them off. I added a photo I took yesterday morning! It was exciting to see the goldfinches all lined up and playing nice! LOVE this feeder!

When guest see 10 to 20 birds eating on this feeder they are amazed. Usually American Gold Finch. Recommend buying thistle seed that has tan additive mixed with it. Tractor supply good source
