well its better....
It's been a long wait, and whilst I'm not saying it was totally worth it, KoD does make me happy in a few ways! He has actually closed off a few story lines and things really do seem to be progressing towards the final battle. The question is still though will he live long enough to write it!! Jordan's style is heavy going with paragraphs of who is wearing what, and really pointless conversations, but when he wants to kick a story along he can. Once the drugs for the verbal diarrhoea kick in for him his ingenuity and sometimes plain nastiness for some of the characters [often well deserved!!] just rushes you along and the pages fly by - but so often you end up reading bits begging for the action to start!Bring on Tarmon Gai'don!!! (please...)

This book has started of better than book ten
You can curtainly tell the female characters are written by a man. This book has started of better than book ten, which you need to read to understand the story.. but be warned book 10 is full of gass and not much else. However, my husband and i have been working our way through all the books, and we do like the characters, just wish the books got to the point more often. It is an intregueing world that they author has established.

Excellent Series
I was looking for a series to get my teeth into after reading Game of Thrones. This series didn't disappoint, as it's a similar format without the gratuitous sex!

The Wheel Turns
Knife of Dreams is the penultimate adventure in the Wheel of Time Saga. It follows a number of books in the series where complete plot strands have straddled between books causing some disgruntlement to the reader over the glacial plot and worst of all the years waiting for the next installment. In the latest publication there is a definate quickening of the pace. Tarmon Gaidon (The last battle) is coming and concequently the forces of the Light need to prepare themselves. And that mean things have to happen and more importantly parts of the story need to close down. The story maintains an interest in a myriad of different characters which is a strength of this series but it is also a feature which has created the perception of slow plot advancement. Its fair to say that all major characters are present and all storylines develop, some to completion. Notably a number of prophecies and fortellings hinted in the previous books come to pass and the climax of this book really starts to set the scene for what should be a brilliant finale. If only we did not have to wait another few years.

Another step in the Jordan staircase
I was passionately searching for the next book each time I finished one, but now, as previous reviewers have said, with so many minor characters having such convoluted storylines, alongside their major counterparts, it has almost become... dare I say it... a chore, just to read a Jordan book. With such long waits between new books, I often find I have forgotten what has happened in the previous books, and am then forced to reread them. I have now read the whole 11 books around 3 times. Sadly, I fear I'll have to read them again, should the 12th book ever appear.Nothing much made this book stand out from the series. If you get into it, the series I mean, then you'll read this, and you'll be sufficiently thrilled. Enjoy.
