Looks great, but leaks.
Shopping around for a nice feeder, the reviews on this one appeared to make it a no-brainer, so I just ordered it. Unfortunately, we have two disappointments. First is that it leaks out of the top (see photo). There is always some liquid around the perimeter, and my little bee friend loves it. He visits more often than the hummingbirds. Secondly, we made 24oz of nectar in anticipation of this feeder’s arrival. After filling the red jar, we had 14oz left over. I’m not getting where this 24oz claim comes from. When this first jar eventually drips-out, I’ll look again to ensure there’s nothing I can do to improve that seal, and will also measure the exact capacity of the jar.UPDATE: My red glass jar holds 15oz. When you then turn it over so it's upright, about 45% is used to fill the lower portion of three feeder.

Leaks immediately
Ok, so like many other reviewers here i am going to recommend that you don't ignore the warnings and then buy this because its distinctive and pretty, like i did. The main issue is that the copper colored base unscrews in the middle (the part with the "flowers" is not removeable from the red glass part) and when you put nectar in the glass part and then screw the base back together, its cheap flimsy plastic and it LEAKS everywhere and immediately at that. Also, the base is so deep that once you fill the glass part with nectar and tun it upside down to screw closed, the nectar all seeps into the base and it looks empty. Fine, it is red after all, but you never know when its empty and obviously its a total mess to turn upside down to open when it has nectar in it. This thing is cute looking, but a simple redesign of the base (should be one solid piece and that whole piece should screw onto the glass jug) would stop the excessive leaking. Btw, mine did come with the s hook, i saw other reviews stated theirs did not.

Nice design, but poor functional desigon
I just received and filled this feeder. While it looks nice, it leaks a bit. The only thing holding the top red piece, the top "brass" piece, and the bottom "brass" piece together is how tightly you screw it. I screwed it quite tightly but beads of nectar still appeared along the connections. If I notice any increased leaking I may consider returning or buying some kind of sealant. You also fill this *upsidedown*, which means that you fill the red glass part all the way, then when you flip it with the other pieces screwed in, all the liquid rushes down to fill the bottom chamber. Why is this important, it means that the glass will *never* be filled with nectar only half way, so keep this in mind if you wanted a "larger" feeder.

Leaks everywhere
Like most of the reviews it’s gorgeous. But not when it’s leaking nectar everywhere. I would send it back if I had the paperwork. I have other feeders that do not leak at all. Poorly designed

I love the way this looks and I haven't had any leak problems others have mentioned (note: I've only had it one week). I deducted one star because I wish it held more liquid. I do love that it looks vintage though.UPDATE: I've now had this a month and have experience none of the leak problems others mentioned. We had some pretty nasty tornado-generating storms and it still held on really well. I'm happy with this purchase as is my nephew, who kindly reminded me that red dye is bad for the hummers.UPDATE 2: After 4 months, I just emptied out the original fill of hummer food and refilled it. So I can certainly say that it has not leaked at all in 4 months. Also I was so excited that after I put in new food (prepackage syrup for hummingbirds) I saw a hummingbird check it out!

I wanted to love it but...
So my feeder arrived, nicely packed. No problems there. I made homemade nectar and fill it up yesterday. I noticed water leaking out and pooling on the concrete below. After checking it today, the nectar has almost completely leaked out. I do understand if I am doing something wrong or it is defective?? I looked into returning it but after paying for return shipping, it is not worth it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Happy Birds, Happy Me!
I'm on my second one of these. The clamp that holds the glass top is not as well-designed as I would hope, and after a few refills, it slipped out and crashed on the balcony breaking. However, it was so much better than others that I tried (and prettier), that I purchased it a second time. This time I used some of the green plumbers tape (?) on the top of the glass container before installing the hanging mount. It's holding well and the hummingbirds love it! This after months of use. They've decided to call this home and nest in a nearby redwood tree. Last year's brood are coming into color and we have lovely chats about life in general. Go for it, but make sure you secure that top with a cushy kind of tape to ensure longevity.

I would give it 5 stars for appearance, but have have to give it 2 stars for quality. It looks very beautiful when the sun shines through it and I was very happy with it the first 3 days. I noticed the food level going down consistently and felt pleased that the hummingbirds had discovered my beautiful feeder. However, I never actually saw a hummingbird at the feeder, so I decided to put my hand on the bottom just in case it was leaking. And sure enough, the bottom was wet and sticky and when I tilted the feeder just a little bit to the side, the "juice" just poured out like a sieve. I tried to tighten it but nothing helped. I ended up returning it and choosing another one from Perky Pet. Hope this one doesn't leak!
