Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (English Version)

Great book
This book is great for anyone who is interested in the leadership of Xi Jinping and the principles of Xi Jinping Thought. The book is composed entirely of speeches. As the People's Republic of China will soon surpass the United States economically, this is a supremely relevant subject, and this book provides a lot of invaluable insight into the inner-workings and broader goals of the Chinese Communist Party. The success of the People's Republic of China can be seen in their labor laws (state-guaranteed vacation and 44 hour workweek), housing policy (rate of home ownership much higher than the US), property rights and land use policy (all land owned by government or collectively owned by rural farmers), technology (Chinese company Huawei holds the most telecommunications contracts in the world and is a worker-owned co-op), access to healthcare, the fact that the suicide rate is roughly half that of the US, and more... Fascinating country with inspiring leadership.

Incredible and insightful
What an incredibly insightful and well written work. President Xi sheds light on the difficulties of governing a nation of one and a half billion people, their goals and where they’re headed. An incredibly brilliant man and great leader, too bad western politicians these days can barely read, much less write (outside twitter’s character limit).

Read to better understand Modern China and its goals
I actually read this book unlike many of those leaving reviews here. It is a collection of Xi Jinping’s speeches and other releases spanning the late 2012 to 2014.The speeches are grouped together by topic, eg. Economy, Corruption, Military, International relations, Education, etc.You can make rather quick reading of this one as you quickly see a pattern develop in his speeches and there is much repetition of the core goals and core beliefs that are repeated and reinforced in almost ever speech.Although, I now better understand the goals and direction of Xi Jingpin, it also creates many questions and what I see are contradictions that must be better understood. This work has caused to me to dig deeper into my understanding of China’s government, history over the past 100 years and their Constitution. I have already started Vol III cannot say if this English translation is 100% accurate of the original Chinese, but accept it as it is.One thing is clear, Xi Jinping has a long-term game plan leading up to 2050 and beyond with many goals to be met in that timeframe. The goal of building a socialist society with Chinese characteristics based largely on Marxist ideas at its core. He sees China in the early stages of reaching the ultimate goals. He is firmly committed to this being the only path for China and it people. (Note, my comments here are only my interpretation of the book’s contents and what it is being presented to the reader)

Great Translation. Comprehensive Text on the Direction of PRC Politics.
The text itself is essentially a compilation of speeches and short written works by Xi Jinping. Well-translated and easily understandable. References/citations make all CPC vocabulary ("The Four Cardinal Principles," "Deng Xiaoping Theory," etc) accessible for anyone who's new to Chinese political text. Presents the pressing issues of the Chinese nation today. Lays out short-term goals and long-term ambitions for the Communist Party of China to fulfill. Very informative and thorough. I will be purchasing volumes 2 & 3 soon.

Understanding Brings Wisdom
The book arrived quickly, in great shape and it was obviously fresh off the presses. Very much looking forward to learning about China and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics directly from the leadership instead of through the biased filter of Western media.
