The Mortal Heart

If you're looking for a continued story of Ridley and Nox and Link. It's not. It's a back story on Lila Jane and Macon. But it's a great read to find out what happened between them. Tho it'd be nice to know how Macon went from Blood Incubus to being sustained on dreams and how long it took it to happen. Will see in the last couple books what gets wrapped up and what is left not "spoken".

I do love the "fill in" short stories about the characters in the Beautiful Creatures books. This one is about Lila Jane, Ethan's Mother. It was great and it made me want to know so much more.

While I loved the Caster Chronicles, I was in no way some mega-crazed fan, and it's been years since I finished the series. Because of this, I was worried when I purchased this story that too much time had passed and I would have forgotten everything, or wouldn't feel the same connection to the story as I would if I had just finished the series. But this was a nice, albeit short, read, and the authors did a great job re-introducing me to the world before diving into the story. Sure, it was a little underdeveloped due to the fact that it was so short, and it definitely left me wanting more, but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from reading it if you enjoyed the original series.

I have pre ordered this not knowing it was abou Ethan's mom and Malcom. it was so breathingly beautiful, to see the true love between a human and a dark caster/ blood sucker. and how it hurt them both, to stop seeing each other. for who could ever learn to love a beast? :)

I have been feeling lost since I finished the last book of beautiful creatures. I even rewatched the movie just to be in the world again! But this was perfect! I cannot wait till I read the next three! I think these short stories are too short. I love the future but I just wished we could have seen Lena’s and Ethan’s senior year! But I’ll take these :)

Not saying I didn't love it, but I don't feel as if this story really answered anything. It needs to explain more, and the bit it did explain seemed too short, rushed.

Mortal Heart is a nice compilation of the romance between Macon and Lila Jane. Most of the details have already been given in snippets throughout Beautiful Darkness, (book 2 of the series) but I still enjoyed reading the history of their love story in one continuous version. I read the book in 30 minutes as it is not a long story.

Didn't really much in this that we didn't already know or guess from the original story
