Q: What do we have to do with the old starter?

You get to keep it. And the good thing is there is a stater motor rebuild kit that you can buy on Amazon. It's not very difficult to rebuild if you have a little mechanical inclination. I have done it twice already. The copper contacts (included in the rebuild kit) wear out and get burned from the repeated starting process. This is most likely the reason why it's not working anymore. I was in a jam for time so I bought this starter. I need to make time to rebuild my old starter again.

Q: Why is the warranty a secret? amazon said ask denso, then denso said cannot divulge to a retail customer, so ask the seller. a do-loop!

The starter is remanufactured from independents so don't expect warranty longer the 30-90 days. I replaced mine with this and had no problem with it (so far.) The condition looks pretty new and clean (especially the gear). Save myself hundreds replacing this myself vs. going to the shop.

Q: Does this fit 1999 2.2L Carmry?

Don’t know but fits 2000 Lexus rx300 perfectly. Have it til now no problems going from when I bought it and reviewed same time.
