Wilderness Adventure Camp: Essential Outdoor Survival Skills for Kids

This book is absolutely amazing. Gives you clear guidance on the how to use of the world S and the depictions make it fascinating for my kids making it very easy for me to go outdoors with them and attempt some of the wilderness activities.

I just looked through this book, and am looking forward to spending my weekend reading every page twice. This is the best guide I have ever found for teaching a wilderness camp for kids, which is exactly what I do. Most other guides have just cartoon- like images and offer overly technical or overly simplistic skills. This book gets it just right - These are all the skills kids need and the ones they love to learn. The step by step, nice, well defined photographs are so helpful I feel almost like I just took a refresher course in person. There are a bunch of chapters on skills I already have but I appreciate the photographs that I will use for teaching, and a bunch of skills I really need to learn better so I can teach them, all in this book. It's almost the exact curriculum of the camp I already teach, but way better. I just ordered four more, so I can give one to each instructor and volunteer at my camp, and also keep one hand for the kids to reference in the field.

Bought this for a tiny outdoorsman. He feels that he is now a survival expert. Great gift for a 4th grader!

Not worth buying.

I bought this for my kids that are interested is camping. Had so much useful information that I even learned a couple things! It is beautifully put together and the pictures make it easy to complete the tasks. Shows how to use a knife, make tarp tents, and all the things a beginner camper needs.

Wow! What a great resource. We are a camping family, from national park campgrounds to wilderness backpacking on the AT and in the boundary waters between the US and Canada. Over the years I have purchased plenty of camping books. I really like The Wilderness Adventure because it is both comprehensive and simple at the same time. It has everything you need in an easy to manage and understand format.Camp Directors/Leader Trainers: I have taught outdoor survival skills in LIT (Leaders in Training) programs and I really wish I had this guide to walk our young leaders through everything they needed to know. This would have been a solid curriculum for the training programs I have run.

From cover to cover, this book is chock-full of great information with wonderful graphics. It is SO engaging, and not just for kids - even adults can benefit from the instruction in this book, and make learning survival skills a family affair! The level of instruction with informational photos and graphics is impressive and worth so much more than the cost of the book. It's a goldmine of information!That being said, I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't benefit from reading this book.

Great information for anyone interested in outdoor activities. My 10yr old grandson loves it.👍👍
