Not worth it...stick to Lowrance or SIMRAD
I installed and started up this unit today and ALL the default maps are basic and non detailed. The description said “ Navigate any waters with preloaded BlueChart® g3 coastal charts” however there are NO depth soundings or distance/measurements at all. What really bugs me is that the description clearly states “ Experience unparalleled coverage and detail with preloaded LakeVü g3 inland maps featuring integrated Navionics® data that covers more than 17,000 lakes with up to 1' contours.” But there is very little data displayed and it is extremely difficult to try and update this. I connected to WiFi, yet the Active Captain app states I NEED an SD Card. I clearly remember saying I didn’t need one in the details before I bought it. I am also getting messages saying I have to purchase regions if I want to have updated charts. How is it that this damn thing cost over $700 and doesn’t have charts??!?!Next time, I’m sticking with Simrad or Lowrance...Garmin is way too cumbersome and complicated.

you need extra sd card and 20 hours just to update this
while big shot mba deciding how to sell maps at maximum cost and device as barebone not unique to garmin, but what unique is to update this thing you need active captain app and extra sd card which should be exactly between 16-32 gb range and formatted to fat32 format. Be ready to spend 20 hours and learning curve to use this. with all this i like this touch screen product comparing to other older model, because what else to buy for weatherproof gps.

Maps are worthless
Garmin's claim to 17,000 lake maps in this unit may be correct as I have not counted them. What I do know is that I would hate to be lost and have to depend on this units maps to find my way home. They are basic at best. I would consider them as a selling point used by Garmin while offering your the better maps in a chip that is considerable expensive. Having used Chartplotters since they became available I have seen many come and go and this one is pure entry level quality.

Works great Highly recommend
I bought this for my new bass boat and installed it on the bow along with the trolling motor. It works great and is easy to install.. I would give it a 5 star BUT.. their instructions to register and download the newest maps and software is very confusing. Had to call Garmin for help and that's a bit of a hassle. After they told me what their instructions didn't everything was pretty easy. The features and images are super clear, and easy to see. I love the split screen. Over all I would highly recommend this fish finder.
