Publisher Flame Tree reprints paintings with a darker (richer?) palette than the other books available. Impossible not to notice
I did not read the text of this book yet, but one thing does separate this book from the others. I own a large selection of Klimt books and this is certainly not the most complete. But what they did do differently was print the paintings using different parameters. All his paintings and drawings appear darker so they come off and richer and more detailed. I don't know the mechanics of printing paintings. We all know light in a room will affect how you see anything but to my eyes these painting look richer and I get a different view of the painting than in all my other books. Maybe all the other books are closer to what you would see if you stood in a room with these paintings. I don't know. But this book definitely prints the pictures differently using a darker palette than the other books (which are all pretty similar) and so even if its not the most technically accurate, I see his work a little bit different, in a different light literally and figuratively. For all I know this book is more accurate than the other ones. I don't know how one assesses that issue. Maybe this book is an advancement and they used new techniques. I have not a clue. But I can see detail I don't see in the other books, right or wrong. Flame Tree published this book and their book on Mucha by Rosalind Ormiston also features richer darker colors. I would be very curious as to how these books were made and if why the prints are darker. Is it a combination of printing and the paper? No idea. But there is definitely something different than all the other books, and that goes for this Klimt book as well as the one on Mucha..

Fabulous table-top book
This book is exactly what I hoped for! It’s too beautiful to hide on a bookshelf. It will stay on my coffee table. The book is filled with lovely coloured photos and less text. I prefer to see his beautiful work just as it is presented. I am delighted with the size of it as well for easy viewing.

A must for all Klimt fans
This is a large format, coffee table size book which is full of information and illustrations about the Vienna Secessionist movement and particularly Gustav Klimt's involvement. For anyone interested in Klimt and his contemporaries, this book is a must for their art book collection. Reproduction of paintings is first class. Superb - 5 stars.
