Cherokee Double Wall Basket Kit

Great introduction to basket weaving!
This little project is a great introduction to basket weaving. It's a bit challenging at first because it's hard to hold all the spokes together to get the first few rounds started, and the tiny black and white instructional photos make it hard to discern placement. If you don't give up, however, you'll eventually start seeing the pattern, and it will get easier and easier. I would highly suggest that this seller enlarge the photos and print them in color as the arrows and awl indicated in the instructions are indistinguishable from the reed spokes. It takes your eyes a while to detect them. The reed isn't the greatest quality as it tends to fray a little bit here and there, but that's not a problem as it's of "learning" quality. Overall, I had fun, and I made a very sturdy little basket that I'm proud of.

A- for good effort but had some flaws.
This was my first ever attempt at basket weaving. I found the instructions a little difficult to follow because the photos were bad and not consistent. For example in the first photo the horizontal spikes are stacked above the vertical spikes, but the opposite in the 2nd photo which made the start of the project confusing. I also had trouble understanding where to tuck the leftover spokes. But there seems to be enough material for a 2nd basket so I’m going to try again.

Great for kids 8 years and up.
I purchased this for my granddaughter to complete for her Native American school project. The directions are clear and specific so with a little guidance from me she was able to complete the project by herself. She was very proud. Everything g needed is included in the kit and it is a lovely little basket.

Really enjoyed it, would recommend
I completed this basket the first day I received it, it was very enjoyable. They provide more than enough material for your basket, I think I could make at least one more out of the material they sent. The directions aren't too bad, especially the first bit. I did have to look up a YouTube video on the last step to make sure I was doing it right but I was able to figure out the rest on my own. Would recommend this to anyone wants to try out basket weaving or looking for an activity to just sit and relax with to clear the mind. I also thought the price was very reasonable.

A good way to learn.
The instructions were clear. This was a good kit for a first timer. The materials were okay. The brown reed was kind of weak and spongy but as an accent it'll hold up fine.I did not realize what I was buying; this basket kit is for a basket 2 layers thick. The technique is time consuming but does hide all the ends. A bucket of water and scissors is all you need to complete the project. It took about 3 hours in total.

Adorable Baskets
My child had to make an artifact from the 1800-1900s and chose basketry. Using the techniques outlined in the directions several smaller baskets were made. An adult may need to assist in the beginning, but my 10 year old eventually caught on and worked on it for a few minutes a day until finished. The baskets turned out great that students could not believe they were homemade.
