The finish is nice, the drawers glide smoothly once put together.

Both high and low quality
I ordered two of these. The wood is really solid and for the most part the construction is top notch. But the factory definitely has quality control problems - one unit had a bent drawer glide (likely assembled at the factory that way) and the other had a bottom shelf which was both out of square and had the front lip glued on crookedly. This would have been no big deal if I you could just replace the defective parts but you can't. I would have had to return and replace it and they are out of stock again. The drawer glides are standard 14 inchers so I just bought new ones on Amazon and then used my table saw to get the bottom shelf good enough to assemble. The final product looks just fine.If I were to order again I would probably order three with the expectation of having one available to swap parts with before sending it back.

Outstanding value and customizable!
I bought two of these nightstands to pair with a new and very expensive solid wood king bed from Room & Board. I wasn't willing to shell out another $900+ for two matching nightstands, so I thought I'd try customizing these unfinished nightstands to approximate the look of the R&B versions. Since these nightstand are 100% solid wood, I had a friend square off the tops with a table saw to create a more modern look, which only took a few minutes. To get the measurements, I first assembled then first disassembled the units; assembly is extremely simple. After disassembling again, I gave the wood a light sanding (it was already sanded, but there's no harm in resending), then I applied Minwax Wood Conditioner prior to staining. I tested a number of stains on the underside of the bottom panel and ended up using Varithane Summer Oak stain, which was absorbed perfectly by the wood when wiping on with a rag.. Rubberwood takes stain nicely, so I could've skipped the wood conditioner step, but it only took a few minutes. After staining, I reassembled the nightstands and began to finish them with Minwax Wipe On Poly Satin. I would highly recommend the wipe on poly for this particular furniture, as it's almost impossible to make a mistake with drips and over application. It takes many thin coats to achieve a nice finish, but each coat only take about 5 minutes to apply when using a rag. I probably did about 5-7 coats in total, letting the poly dry for a couple of hours in between, and using fine sand paper and/or steel wool every couple of coats. Finally, I found modern drawer pulls on Amazon to round out the new look. I am really pleased with the end result... it looks totally professional and matches the bed very nicely. Here are my favorite things about the nightstand: easy assembly, solid construction, pre-sanded, generally consistent wood grain, easy to stain, and customizable. The only area of improvement I can suggest is a soft-closing drawer be offered as an option, since the drawer makes a loud bang if closed quickly. Other than that, this nightstand is awesome!

Fitting alignment not the greatest
I purchased two of these side tables at about a third of the retail cost due to the fact they were "used". Basically I believe they were opened box returns, maybe. They were still packed from the factory and nothing seemed to have been removed from the box.To be fair the wood is very nice looking. The only problem with the wood was a narrow hairline crack on one of the side panels which will easily fill with anything I decide to finish them with. The problem of assembly began with the rear panel. The grove the panel slides into in the top, bottom and sides of the table didn't line up. I couldn't force it in so I had to use a razor knife and make a bevel so I could get it to go in. That needed to be done on both sides. The same happened with the drawer bottom. This time I was able to force it into place. Now the biggest problem. The drawer front (not the actual wood front, there is an inner drawer front of plywood) and back are made of thin plywood. While putting in two of the screws the plywood split. On one screw the pilot hole was so far off the screw came through the back of the drawer.d Putting the drawer into the table the left side was lower creating a very noticeable larger space at the left side top of the drawer. I believe I can adjust that easily.I'll be keeping these tables because of the price I got them for and they are going into a guest bedroom. If I paid full price they would be going back. Now to open up and assemble the second table!

Overall great purchase
Fairly easy assembly and i'm 72. Bought it so I could paint to match a bed that has no matching side table. Heavy , all wood sturdy piece . So far so good. I will now purchase the dresser to match. So if you have some assembly skills you should not have too many problems. Well marked but should have pics of where the drawer slides are for easier assembly by some who will have a problem

Perfecto!
Absolutely love this line of furniture. Love staining it to whatever colors I want. Its so sturdy and looks and feels like you paid just as much as in a store. Very solid. Have bought 2 nightstands, 2 sofa tables, 2 TV stands, and end tables so far and all have met standards. Very easy to put together. Might add in a bookcase or something at some point. Definitely a money saver to buy these unfinished and then stain and varnish yourself. Honestly looks like expensive furniture. Very nice option if your looking to save but not give up quality for doing so.

TAKES STAIN EASILY!!
This set (when I say set I will also be purchasing the long dresser) is beautiful!! I was worried that since this was rubberwood, it would maybe not take stain as well as another wood like pine, oak or birch. I was so wrong!! This piece took the stain BEAUTIFULLY!! It matches the headboard and footboard I made exactly! (Different room, different lighting). Jacobean minwax with the gray rubbed on when almost fully dry. It made the weathered look I was looking for. The piece itself was well packaged, easy to put together, and made to last. I may change out the bottom of the drawer at some point to 1/4" ply, but other than that, phenominal for the price!!!!!
