The best gull book for the area
Gulls are difficult and seem to be difficult for experts to convey to others. This is about the best, but needed extra beginners information to get a fifth star

Gulls of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East
Spot on. If you are interested in Gulls, then this is a 'must buy'. Brilliant text, brilliant photos and as easy to read/understand as this most complex genera can be.

Can't go wrong with this one! (Oh, wait...)
As a big fan of the Gull Research Organization website, I thought I would chance it with this good-looking book. It arrived today and what can I say - it's absolutely brilliant! Thorough listing of identifying points for each species, a plethora of photographs to illustrate each and every cycle (calender year), and emphasis on those tricky subspecies. Even a few pages devoted to hybrids! And yet... Why, oh why, has no one thought to tell the gulls that this is what they "typically" should look like? Checked my own pics to compare, and in European Herring Gulls alone came out with a variation on P10 mirrors and bands of 3 out of 5! Ugh. I'm also still stumped as to which sun rating to use in order to separate leggy bubblegum pink, dull pink, bright pink, raspberry pink and, well, pink. Anyone have a color chart for that? At any rate. Go get this book. You won't regret it, and really, where would we be if suddenly it all became too easy, eh?

Raising the bar!
This is a new high standard for the genre of species range identification. The illustrations are excellent and the accompanying text hugely informative.Anyone with an interest in Gulls will love this book and for serious birders, I think it is essential reading.Everyone I have spoken to about this book is full of praise for it and I congratulate those involved for providing another level of field guide.

The go to book
This is the go to book for gull identification. It has always been my intention to turn gull watching from nightmare to pleasure and this book is certainly helping. It is too big to use as a field guide but is of great use when referencing field notes. I am sure a field guide to complement this book would be a best seller.
