These stakes would have you believe they are Made in USA from the name, but they are NOT!!! Both boxes I received are clearly marked "Made in China" bought in Summer 2022!!!

No, I just keep them in the box that they came in. You can also use a rubber band.

Q: What do you call the plastic part on top of heavy duty tent stake

They are called "Tent stake toppers" i believe.

Q: How well do these work in sand?

For sand you want the big thick plastic stakes as those have more surface area to create friction with the sand. These will just pull out of sand and offer zero resistance to it. These are for hard surfaces where the thicker stakes would be impossible to hammer into the ground.
