The Lady or the Lion

Absolutely did not expect to be hooked as fast as I was. Thought the genre wasn't for me, but I managed to finish it in just a couple days as I couldn't stop reading. I've never been someone who cared much for representation or really thought these types of cultural/religious references would appeal that much to me, but it was surprisingly refreshing to see them baked into the fabric of the novel.The character development and plot progressions were well executed, and I was very much invested in everyone's fate by the end. I enjoyed the avoidance of common tropes and cliched plot points, as well as the unique stylistic choices scattered throughout. Even if you're not a huge fan of romance like me, the rest of the book is enough to reel you in. Can't wait to see what the sequel has in store.
