I'd be Reckless with Jesse too...
Don't mind Emery Rose, just popping in here with another winner!Jesse and Quinn's story was a summertime dream. This author is an expert at scene setting and creating such vivid places that you can't help but see them when you close your eyes. Her attention to detail is incredible and I love how she has particular quirks and details already picked out in her head to make each place and individual realistic and unique, without being overdone.Quinn has been in love with Jesse for as long as she could remember. She's always felt a connection to him despite their age difference and he's been just as present and loving in her life as her older brothers. The only problem is, it seems that's all he'll ever see her as....Jesse's struggling - no other way to say it - with an awful, messy breakup after a pretty long term relationship that ended pretty badly. He's lost his faith, his trust and his interest in women as well as himself. He's also struggling with his career alongside it all which is an even bigger blow after the pinnacle of success he's been riding on. The poor guys got a lot going for him - talent, honesty, strength, kindness - and just as much going against him. Needless to say, he's on the verge of giving up.But that's where Quinn comes in. She's there to support and push him, much like he did her. She's gone through her own fair share at the tender age of just 18 and he was there for her every step of the way. It just signifies the two ends of her personality perfectly, her strength, ambition and determination but also how she hasn't let it harden her and is still very much a dreamer at heart without being completely naive.Their story was sunshine and summer and sunsets and just beautiful! I love how every book in this series is so different from the last. All of the McAllister boys are so unique and different, as are the women they fall for.So. What can you expect from When We Were Reckless?âSunny, Texas vibesâSecret sexy times đĽâComedic reliefâHeart and soulâHot motocross rider with a heart of goldâFamily funâAngsty push and pullEmery always manages to achieve the perfect balance of plot, fun, family, humour, heart and feels and steam. With a great cast of characters, I'm hoping against all odds that the Cavanaugh brothers each get their own story! Cause damn, does each one of those brothers have their own epic story to tell. I can just feel it in my bones (amongst other places *winks*) and see it clear as day! I'm also looking forward to more McAllister love too!*Reviewed by Ali at Fallen For Books.

Yep yep yep
I've just read this book straight after evies and ridges book, which by the way I still can't find words to write the review yet (il get there) so I was prepared for all the angst. Thus book was just as good with slightly less angst which to be honest I was glad for because honestly I would've been disappointed if all the books were similar in the way of pacing etc, it wouid make it predictable, however my little snag with this one is Jesse. Great character, loved them both, but something about the timing of their fling made me expect more time to have gone by, by the time they got it together. That wasn't the case, and while it's a well written story and I was kinda hooked, I just couldn't fathom that his feelings all of a sudden changed after visiting his ex. D9nt get me wrong he'd already been slowly accepting it was more, but from all the talk of it being a rebound thing and how mad he still got about his ex, I felt like his feelings needed more time to marinate to get there. It had after all only been a summer of feelings on his part, even after being adamant he couldn't give her anything more. Plus, she was always quick to forgive or forge on despite her doubts, don't get me wrong, it's not in a pushover way, its just a quinn way, totally meshed with her personality. She was a beautiful girl inside and out in a way that didn't make me wanna boff lol. I do wish there more scenes with her and evie though. I really love their bond. Felt like we seen it more in what is supposed to be the next book but I obvs read that first by accident lol. Oh and let's not forget noah! That kid cracks me up. But great read, you wont be disappointed

Sunshine Girl & Racer Boyđ
Another five easy stars for this age gap, brothers best friend romance.Iâm not usually a great fan of age gap romance but I knew that Ms Rose would do it right.... and wow has she..!Quinn has doted on Jesse ever since his friendship with her brothers began, he has been the object of all her teenage fantasies and wishes....I just loved Quinn from the very start...feisty, fun and older than her eighteen years.... she is so focused...knows exactly what she wants and is determined to get it.I loved her view of life, her sunny disposition which is optimistic but also realistic. Her relationship with her brothers was really fun to read and her best friend Evie made me smile with her edgy personality and âmake him sufferâ advice...Iâm really hoping we get her story....!Jesse has been at the top of his sport for years, constantly striving to be the best but when it all comes tumbling down around him he bolts home to Texas to heal his wounds and bury himself in self pity.A request of him to convince Quinn to stay in the state for college throws them together for the summer.....suddenly everything they both thought they wanted gets muddled, instead of planning for college and rescuing a career, they embark on a whirlwind, no strings romance that is full of adventures, first times, laughs, shared confidences and secret rendezvous. An absolute joy to read, I loved their easy friendship and all the other characters that make these stories so addictive.... oh and the epilogue was just perfect!!Canât wait to read the next McCallisterâs journey to find love.

Weakest Book of the Series
Found the premise of the story a little unbelievable. Really, Quinn continually throwing herself at Jesse, turning up at his place late at night, and behaving reckless, seemed a little far-fetched for a naive and sheltered girl of 18. Rather disappointed with story. Not one of Emery's better books for me, sorry.

Beautiful đ
Great book. Great characters. Great story line. What else is there to say? Happy ending, too. Whatâs not to love?

Three stars
If I hear the name Alessia one more time I am going to snap. Three stars because the ex was a strong point when it shouldnât be, and I just wish that the book was more sweet. I felt like Jesse was only truly invested in Quinn in the epilogue.

Great read
I have never read this author and jumped into this series here. Based on this, will definitely add her works to my TBR list. This was the perfect blend of sweet romance, angst, alpha male, feisty female and steamy heat. Great read

Tender yet forbidden love story!
When We Were Reckless is yet another great story in the Lost Stars series. This time around it's Jesse McCallister's turn, the motocross daredevil superstar who is suddenly home and trying to pick up the pieces of his career. Quinn Cavanaugh as the little sister of his best friend Mason is a girl he has always adored but she is not so little any longer. Now at 18, her lifelong affection for Jesse takes a new direction as they become each other's confidante and bedmate for the summer. With each determined to enjoy each other in secret, when feelings start to get in the way on both their parts, I just knew their hearts would take a beating as the summer neared its end. But what neither expected was to find the true love of their lives that just might be worth fighting for.I love both of these characters. Rose depicts 18-year-old Quinn perfectly. Her constant thoughts of inadequacy with a man 9 years older than her were spot on. Her naivety in all things sexual was depicted as mindful and respectful. However, despite her innocence, she was a wise and caring person and the perfect match for the beleaguered and worn-out Jesse. He could be himself. He could open up to Quinn in ways he hasn't been able to with his family or his good friends. But the chemistry they couldn't deny took both by surprise with the heat, stolen glances, and brief touches between them something they had never experienced before. The world and all of its troubles faded from view whenever Quinn and Jesse were together. And sure, maybe they tried to ignore their inner voices, hers that she'd never love anyone more than Jesse and his that Quinn had to live her own life first before they could even think of being together, but I knew there was no going back. Not after what they shared, both physically and emotionally.Overall, compared to the first two books in this series, the angst level here was low for me. I didn't get the sense of this relationship not working out since any outside forces that threatened what Quinn and Jesse could have, were dealt with in a reasonable and timely way. I guess I just knew they would find the strength and desire to work things out no matter the age difference or where they were in their lives. They simply belong together in whatever way they could manage and with the truly lovely epilogue to tie things up so beautifully, I was happy to know my instincts about this couple were spot on.An enjoyable read with a cast of characters who continue to make me smile even when things go awry, I am hopeful more is on the horizon particularly wrt Quinn's brothers and the tales that inevitably need to be told. Emery Rose is a wonderful writer and I have enjoyed getting to savor her words and stories with this series.4 solid stars!
