I'm a guitar teacher. I like to have tuners around for students to use, but I like tuners that stand out somehow. That makes it less likely that a student will accidentally leave the room with my tuner on their headstock. This one is perfect, and mine even came with spare batteries! It's noticeable because it has a unique look and is taller than similar tuners. The display is bright and the tuner works fast. I happen to love the owl motif as a guitar playing owl is kind of my symbol. I think the hinge is fine. The height of the tuner would exert more leverage on the hinge if somebody banged it into something. I would consider that operator error, and not a problem with the tuner.

I bought one of these tuners not even year ago, from a different company and spent way more money on it. At some point, the part between the owl and the clip cracked a little bit and the little owl didn't stand up very well anymore, but it still worked, so I didn't mind. Last week the clip snapped right in half rendering it completely useless. You would think that would turn me off from buying another one, but it's just so cute, I don't care if it's kind of a piece of crud. The price from this seller is about half of my original one, so I don't mind if this one breaks in less than a year. Now I know to be careful with it.

I bought this for my classical guitar. The tuning is accurate and easy to use. You can choose which instrument it's supposed to be tuning. The only problem is that the wiring gets pinched or something when you adjust the owl, so I often have to move it around until the screen appears to work again. Until then it keeps flashing from green to orange/brown. It didn't initially do this, so I suspect the wiring has been damaged from use. I've had it less than a few months and use it once or twice a week.

Worked well, then didn't and seemed all messed up. My kid (the violin student) figured out that it's easy to bump the mode button and get into the wrong setup. Once we understood that and set it correctly, it seems to work great, and she loves it.

I play guitar. I have a tuner, but the back of it had broke, so I bought this one. I bought it because it is perfect for what I needed it to do, but it's also because it's an owl, and I LOVE owls.HOWEVER.The only reason it's got a two-star rating is because when I finally had a chance to use it, it was damaged. The owl won't "stand up" like it's supposed to, and I thought maybe one of the tiny little screws had come loose or something, so I tried tightening it. That was, sadly, not the case. Rather, it turns out that it's broken where the "joint" part is, to adjust where a person can see the screen to see whether the stings are tuning well or not. I'm sad, but I'm going to try to fix it, because I don't want to just toss it out. It's a pretty cute little tuner! I'm sure it's fixable.

I bought the owl tuner for my daughter who is starting 6th grade and needs one for her orchestra class. It seemed to work well at first, but after a week, it was malfunctioning and wouldn’t work at all. The lights just flashed repeatedly and even taking the battery out and putting it back in didn’t help. We returned it and got a refund. I’ll try a different kind for the next one. Sad it didn’t work because it really is a cute owl design and my daughter loved the look of it. But ultimately the functionality is most important.
