If you like Herriots books buy it.
As good as the series. His son presents the back story quite well. Very interesting and enjoyable reading. Goes into the relationships and explains some of the questions that may arise, such as the Herriots wedding.

Fantastic book!
This memoir of James Herriot was written by his son, and because of this it is very accurate. The reader understands more about the reality of the vets in the stories after reading the memoir. It is a wonderful read!

An incredible biography of James Herriot by his own son. It's amazing!
This is an amazing book by the son of James Herriot (Alfred Wight). From the very beginning James Wight (Herriot's son), builds on what you've read before. It's an amazing read; both in terms of confirmation of what one sees in the TV series or reads in Herriot's books. I simply have not been able to put it down and underlining so much of it that is so important.

Sadly too many Alfs.
It shows not everyone can write good books. Mr. James Wright tries hard but it isn't a relaxed reading. His constant use of his father name Alf is a bit tiring. Sorry

A gem of a biography!
A biography of a Veterinary Surgeon, the real life experiences of whom were adored world over. Written by his son it is as interesting and heart warming as the books of James Herriot! We always wanted to know about the real life James Herriot and the characters portrayed around him, this book provides exactly that.
