As mentioned by other reviewers, a lot of Brazen ...
As mentioned by other reviewers, a lot of Brazen Minotaurs in the short stories. Think this could have use pure Raven Guard stories as the title named.

Fantastic change of pace
Didn't buy the book here but felt it was important to talk about it. Excellent book, extremely fun to read, and provides a look a legion so often under appreciated and forgotten. Mann creates situations that show that even space marines face challenges and can feel empathy

Somewhat bland Sons of Corax
Purchased through Amazon.co.uk on 3 November 2016 and posted on this site a few minutes beforeThis is a collection of seven short stories by George Mann on the Raven Guard Chapter – the Sons of Corax – which is during “the Dark Millennium” towards the end of the 41th century. More precisely, it is about the struggles and wars of two of the Raven Guards’ companies (or what is left of them) under the command of Captain Koryn and the spiritual leadership of Chaplain Cordae. There are some interesting features in this collection, such as the strained collaboration between the Raven Guards and the Brazen Minotaurs who seem to be their exact opposite in just about everything except for the fact that they are both Space Marine Chapters. Unfortunately, you are left somewhat guessing as to whom the “progenitor Chapter” of the Minotaurs happens to be. I personally hesitated between the Ultramarines and the Imperial Fists. This tends to point to a more general issue I had. Whether the Raven Guards, the Minotaurs or the Plague Marines issued from Mortarion’s Death Guard, I found that there was a general lack of context and somewhat bland scenarios. Planets and systems are threatened, corrupted and attacked by Plague Marines and their corrupt human followers. Loyal Space Marines of the Raven Guards (and Brazen Minotaurs in the longest of the stories) oppose them and fight them, sustaining terrible losses in the process, and that is about it, with the usual displays of hors and monsters from the Chaos Plague Marines’ side, and the usual “fight to the last” and “ultimate sacrifice” displays on the other side. You certainly get plenty of bolter fire and chain swords, power swords and other weaponry shooting and slashing left, right and centre but mostly there are one or two exceptions however) with very little context as to why the defence of planet or system x, y or z is so absolutely essential that everyone on the imperial side has to fight to the last and die in attempting to do so. You also, and finally, learn little about the Raven Guards themselves and their history, although you do get to understand that they are adepts and experts at swift hit-and-run raids, but then the chances are that you knew this already, especially if you are a 40K fan…Three stars.

It's good, just wish it was more focused on the Raven Guard
This book had so much potential to really carve out more about the Raven Guard's recent history and role in the 40K universe but instead it split focus and centered around the Raven Guard and ***SPOILER*** the Brazen Minotaur chapter and their fight against the Death Guard. Don't get me wrong, the short stories are well written and interesting/hold you interest, but the author literally splits between a shadow captain of the Raven Guard and the captain of the Brazen Minotaur chapter. This book was supposed to be all about the Raven Guard, I mean for cripes sake it's called The Sons of Corax, but you end up hearing from and learning more about the Brazen Minotaur's battle philosophy and background than the Raven Guard's.It just felt like a let down b/c the previous book about the Ultramarines was really ALL about the Ultramarines. Every single story featured them front and center. This book in the Legends of the Dark Millennium series was, I thought, supposed to be all about the Raven Guard. Since they are written about so little in the 40k universe (more in the Horus Hersey books) I thought GW would be ok with publishing a book about one of the most seldom heard from Space Marine Chapters. I guess not.Read it cause it's decent writing and gives some insight into the Raven Guard and shows them in action some of the time, and you hear a lot about the Brazen Minotaurs Chapter, but just don't expect the book to be all about the Raven Guard.
