Glow-in-the-Dark Constellations

Great book for helping children ages 6-12 with the basics of star gazing and the stories and legends behind some of the world's most popular and known constellations. We are spending thr weekend at Cherry Springs State Park, one of the darkest spots on the Northeaster Continental United States of America. I purchased this book to read to my children, nieces, and nephews as the sky darkens and the stars peek out. I am hoping through the stories and trying to find the constellations it will be a fun filled weekend they will remember!

We purchased this as part of our homeschooling curriculum. We flipped through it and the kids loved it. It has basic information on the constellations and a page showing the stars in comparison to the picture of what the constellation is. It helped my kiddos imagination when looking at the picture and comparing to the placement of stars. The glow in the dark aspect is so much fun! We all loved this book and can't wait to read more.

I bought this as a present for an 8 year old into stars. I also got a copy for my 7 year old. This book is a cool concept as it shows and explains the constellations in an easy way. The pages show the constellation in the sky with other stars. The actual constellation is raised bumps that I think glow in the dark - my son thought that was really cool. He liked that he could feel and figure out the constellation. I suppose if we read the book at night with the light on and then turn out the lights - the constellation will glow. I'll have to try that. The reason I don't know is because my son looked at the book when we got it and hasn't touched it since. So I'm mixed on this book. He may be a bit young or simply not into it right now. I'm keeping the book because it's really good information, in a way that kids will like and learn it, and it has the glow in the dark constellation. I'm just not 100% because he hasn't really gotten into it yet. I'm hoping if I keep it on the shelf it will be a selection at some point.

Good gift

This is a terrific book for kids - the layout of stars on each page is similar to how it would look in the sky, which makes it easier to find constellations than other books that show only the constellation but not other nearby stars. The glow-in-the-dark feature is nicely done. This is good for younger kids (maybe 9 and under?) because it only has a dozen or so constellations and for that reason is not overwhelming. We bought this as a companion to a larger book with alphabetical arrangement of over 80 constellations, the two together are a good pair for 9-year old stargazer.

This book is a great balance between educational and enjoyable. Our little reads it every night with her dad before bed and it is a big hit. She already had an interest in the stars and she loves to read this book over and over and over and practicing identifying constellations and identifying what the stories behind them are. Big hit.

I bought this book for my grandchildren so that they could begin to learn the wonderful timeclock YHWH God established in the heavens. The author does not include Bible verses where these constellations are recorded, nor does the author explain the importance of the Hebrew names God gave to these constellations, so I wrote in many notes. In the constellation Virgo, is a star named Semach, which in Hebrew means Branch.It is OK for beginners who have a good guide. The glow in the dark stars makes it helpful to find the actual constellations in the heavens.

Magnifique livre sur les constellations. Elles n'y en a que quelques unes mais les principales je pense. Chaque constellation est accompagnée d'une petit texte sur l'origine du nom de la constellation. Le petit plus (mon fils pense que c'est la meilleure partie du livre), il y a une sorte de cherche et trouve: il faut retrouver la constellation dans un ciel tout piqueté d'étoile. La solution apparait lorsque l'on place la page sous une lampe durant quelques secondes et que l'on plonge le livre dans l'obscurité. La constellation se met alors à briller.

A good quality product but highly priced

Bought this for my grandson to go with a Dobsonian telescope to make his early-years stargazing more enjoyable - brilliant format to the book, makes it fun and easy to follow. Really love the 'glow in the dark' constellation pictures making it so easy for him to be able to recognize the stars. Would definitely recommend this book (I even found it helpful to spot the star formations) - lots of info but very easy to follow.
