Loved it.

"Raat" is a 1992 Bollywood horror film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, an acclaimed Indian director. It stars Tamil film star Revathi as a college undergrad who is possessed by an evil spirit residing within their home. Mini (Revathi) is a bubbly, happy-go-lucky teenager whose family (father, mother, and young nephew) move into a home that is reputed to be haunted. Soon enough, strange and sinister things start occurring. The family cat dies in a horrible accident only to be seen, alive by Mini's mother and nephew. Later, Reshmi, Mini's friend, dies in a horrific murder. The viewer is clued in early on that it is Mini who is responsible for the horrors, her body having been possessed by a restless and vengeful spirit. It is only much later that Mni's mother, out of desperation, turns to an Indian mystic/ holy man to get to the bottom of things.As far as effects go, this film relies more on old school chills and there are some genuinely creepy moments, thanks to a spectacular performance by Revathi, who is one of Tamil cinema's gems in that she is an excellent character actress. I have never watched this film before now and was quite impressed by the plot, acting, and direction. The film is listed as a cult Indian horror film and I can see why. It has stood the test of time and was an engaging and suspenseful watch.

One of my fav horror movies of Ram Gopal Verma.Picture quality - 8/10Sound Quality - 6/10Overall - 7/10This is a good buy. There picture quality is decent considering the time of release with occasional lines appearing on the screen for few seconds only.
