I answered my own question! This hoop is a dream!My Designer 1 uses the same embroidery unit as the Designer SE, so I thought this hoop might work for me.I formatted my 100 X 100 embroidery design for the Viking Mega Hoop (150 X 360). The Snap Hoop would have recognized the hoop if my machine was a Designer SE, but ...my machine recognized the hoop as the Mega Hoop. YAY!My design stitched out beautifully!I hope this helps other D1 owners who want to use this hoop without buying a newer machine.

I have the larger monster hoop and love it for quilting
DIME's magnetic hoops makes hard to hoop projects must easier. I have the larger monster hoop and love it for quilting. This one doesn't seem to have as much "magnetic power" as the larger one. But it will still come in handy.
