Boss Light Tactical Flashlight USB Rechargeable Zoomable LED XM-L2

Purchased as a gift for our son to used as an every day carry light to carry to school or to keep on him when he walks home from work at night. On the whole the light isn't too bad and I would say is a reasonable value for the money. Build quality so far seems pretty good, though we'll have to see how it holds up long term. It seems like they're using a quality LED chip in the unit. The beam pattern is pretty wide and distinct, I don't recall if it could be adjusted or not. My only complaint would be the choice of color temperature, it looks like it's maybe 6000k. Something a little warmer in say 5000k I think would be spot perfect and not as harsh on the eyes when you're using it.****Update 05-24-18**** I would avoid this product at all cost. I purchased this light for my son to use if needed when walking home from work and after about about 4-5 months the light is completely dead and will not power up. Tried changing out the batter with other 18650 batteries we have and still nothing. Messaged the seller on the outside chance the light might carry some sort of warranty and was met with crickets (about par for course from any seller other than Amazon on here). If you're looking for a compact light I'd suggest looking from something from a reputable brand.

I've bought other models here on Amazon that just suck, with the exception of another brand, J5 Tactical.BUT, this light is Brighter than that one. The Bosslight is a little longer than the J5 by about an inch or so but besides that is almost identical. The reason I bought the J5 and keep buying the Boss is because it's rechargeable and bright. I work in industrial and commercial environments and i don't have time to be screwing around with buying or finding batteries, no serious mechanic would. There is one little thing that bugs me about the Boss though and it's that every now an them it glitches on you and won't turn ON no matter how many times you depress the switch. Also when you go to charge it, it sometimes turns on by itself and you have to disconnect it, turn it off, and then reconnect the charger, and then it will start to recharge normally, that parts no big deal. Anyhow, you take the greater good out of things and for now this is my light. Update: it is now 2018 and have been using this light everday, as always, and have come to the end result that the light is an all around good light except for one thing that's a problem not just with the light but everyother electronic device that you've ever owned in todays age, the charging port. Those things just don't last. Sooner or latter you end up not being able to charge your device, and end up having to buy a new one, whether it's a cell phone, camera, or a BOSS light, the port you use to charge the battery ends up not working right or at all and end up being a statistic to the industries technique of getting you to buy another one of their devices, that's life.

Fantastic flashlight, I am an inspector for an air plane manufacturing company. The tools we get are usually not what you would expect a multi millian dolllar company to give to employees so some times we have to get stuff ourselves to do the job right. In this case I needed a flashlight that worked and could last, this flash light is it. It easily lets me switch from weird windex style lazer mode to blind everyone in my path at once mode just by pushing or pulling the head in or out. The micro usb charger is fantastic and in a well placed location. Really sturdy material as well so you don't have to worry if you drop it. The only thing I don't like about it however is all the seemly sharp edges it has as the hilt is oddly shaped like a dagger or something for no real reason. The hook on it is very useful and clamps on well to anything such as a pocket or whatever you may need it to.

The flashlight arrives charged and I have not yet had the chance to try recharging it from my solar charger, which is the whole idea - a flashlight that can be recharged with a solar charger when off the grid. I will post an update when I have a chance to try that. Instructions are not quite complete - there is a plastic cover on the switch end of the unit that you must unscrew the switch and remove for the battery to charge. Four stars became five because of good, responsive customer service.

Well I wish it had lasted a little longer but I bought this flashlight almost 2 years to the day ago. It had a good battery life and brightness up until the end. When the charging port fell into the flashlight. This flashlight took quite a beating (used daily for aircraft inspections) in its lifetime and because of that I’m surprised it lasted this long. This flashlight is incredible. So small with so much power. The full embodiment of what LED technology can be and is. Rechargeable and zoom able. The only flaw is you can see all the dust in your house which highlights the light beam like a high intensity laser. Which isn't really a flaw.

I bought this to keep in my car for emergency use. When I needed it the batteries had lost their charge, it had been over a year so that is understandable. I had a long USB cable in my car and a USB port so I plugged it in - worked great. Why 1 star it ? It will not turn off turn off.If any one can suggest a light that would better fit my needs please let me know.Note: After a full charge the on off function started working so moving forward I will charge every month
