This company stands behind it's produce
We bought this AC unit in March,23 It worked GREAT until September. It keep cooling. When that happened we emailed the company Whynter. The customer support Chenie G. was great. She answered all our email in a very short amount of time. I believe she totally understood what our problem was that we were having. Chenie was able to get a another new unit shipped out to us to replace this one that doesn't work. She also kept us informed on the process of when the unit would be shipped to us. Whynter has a very valuable customer support employee.I will say that this unit has a noise but in about 3 nights we were use to it. We have friend that have noisier units. Our Bedroom is 14x14 & the AC unit kept it at 65 degrees every night until it quite working.(We like our cool bedroom at night. We sleep so much better)

Delay in activating AC?
Love this brand and it's my second unit. This is smaller than my last. Dual hose design is great. Can also operate in single hose mode if the temperature outside is too high/low.Install was quick and easy. Only two things of note that I didn't K ow before buying this model, is the AC portion has a 5 degree swing before it activates the condenser. So it won't activate condensslr u less the temp is 5 egress or more different from what you set it to. This is their attempt to save power. In addition to this, I think it reviews the temperature in the room periodically, not actively. Maybe once every 5 minutes. I thought my unit was defective because I turned it on, put it in cool. Mode and set temp to 71 degress. Room was over 80 egress. Blower came on but no cold air. Checked the exhaust vent on the window and no exhaust heat (condenser blower was off). Waited about 5 monies, and then it came on. Cold air at last. So must be some delay in evaluating temp. I'd think it would evaluate right away when changing modes or setting temp. Also, the remote is Infrared, not radio and only one way communication. So the remote doesn't actually know what mode the AC unit is in, just let's you change modes, speed and temp etc and shows you want you are changing it to on the remote, but they are not in sync. So best set the AC unit directly on the controls to match what the remote screen says so they match. But that doesn't do as much good because the unit, when you turn it on, doesn't resume the same settings it was on before it was turned off (matching the remote) so you'll have to make sure they are in sync again. In my case, if the fan speed was at full speed and matched the remote before turning off, then turning it back on, the speed changes back to low, but the remote still has previous speed it things it's was before even it was on, which is full speed.

Louder than my PC, but quieter than my PS4
One night mid March my room was about 10F warmer than the rest of the house due to my PC basically acting like a constant space heater being on. I like to sleep with it cold, and where my PC is it was just dumping hot air on to my feet, so it was making it challenging to sleep. Decided to look Google "The best portable AC unit" and went through a few posts, and this one kept coming up, so I clicked on the link and found it 40% off, so it was a no brainer. Made a custom intake that basically plums this thing strait into the front of my PC case, which is great for overclocking lol, but also get nothing but cold air blowing at my feet, while also keeping my room cool too.I also live in the desert, and it is now June 13th as I write this. Purchasing this AC was certainly a smart move, and do enjoy my room now being the coldest in the house. Some drawbacks, are the dual hose system can take up more room, but as it got hotter, I ended up taking the intake tube off. The controls can be finicky sometimes, and it doesn't seem to respond, so I just hit the buttons on the plug to cut power to it, and reset it, then it works fine again. When the AC pump is going it can have this metallic rattle to it, which can be kind of annoying. I got some sound deadening panels for another project, but put some around the unit, and really cuts down on some of the excess noise, while not cutting off intake. Other than that, noise isn't too bad. I have it sitting about 2 feet away from me while I'm gaming, and I have asked my friends if they could hear the AC, and they can't. Could depend on the mic too, but I have a few different mic's that I record videos with, and I'm recording 2-3 feet away from this thing, and I never hear it on any play back. That's also before enabling sound canceling software from my GPU.Overall, great unit, and would recommend.

Not the best, not the quietest but it gets the job done.
Alright, first I would like to state that this is my 3rd portable/window unit in the past month or so.First I had a portable unit that only worked off water (no hoses, can be put anywhere) and I immediately boxed it up for a return as it was so obnoxiously loud it seriously sounded like a jet engine. Plus it made my entire room fell and smell humid.Second, I bought the Medeia U-Shaped window unit. I was totally against a window unit as I never had one before and my perception of one was from the 80s, boy was I proven wrong. That was probably the easiest to install and quietest AC unit out there, dare I say perfect? Unfortunaley I had to also return this because of lame HoA/Community Management sent be a nastygram letter saying window units are not allowed. It seriously bummed me out hardcore and if you can get a window unit, I highly recommend.Third, I decided on a Whynter. I wanted to provide my experiences above to hopefully give a more accurate description of this whynter. I have this setup in my bedroom/office which I need to be on phone calls parts of the day. I am very concious of noise around me and a jet engine in the same room as me will not do. When I first received this I had such high hopes after all the research I did that this would work for my purposes. I turned it on and was pleasently surprised (remember I had that jet engine portable unit to base the noise level from). While it is not super quiet, I am comfortable enough to talk on the phone with this running. When the compressor kicks off and it is just the fan running, it is way way quieter. Also when the compressor kicks on the lights on that same circuit do dim (very quickly) due to the voltage draw.Overall I would say that I am satisfied with this unit. It cools down my room very quickly so the cooling effect works great! Sure I wish I could have kept my window unit, but like most we just arnt allowed too. The noise level is acceptable, if I am watching TV, sure I do have to turn it up a bit louder than I normally would have too as it is a compressor afterall but it is not obnoxiously loud. The window bracket absolutely sucks, it is flimsy and if you truly want to get an air-tight fit you are going to need to do some DIY. I have opted to put in my window when I need it and remove the entire bracket and close the window when im done (not hard to do)

Good Customer Service
I bought one of these in June 2021. It worked great the first year. When I started it up in 2022, the condensate removal system did not work. The unit continued to cool well, but I had to empty a condensate collection jug several times a day. I contacted Whynter and after asking me to check a few things, they offered to replace it. They also agreed to wait until the cooling season was over to make the return. They issued the return paperwork and I had it packed up and shipped by UPS. I paid a small amount to have it packaged but they paid the return freight from Maryland to California. They shipped a new one at no charge which I recieved in the fall of 2022 so I did not start it then. I started it in June 2023 and it is working perfectly. All through this process, I worked with their service representative CHENIE. She was always pleasant and helpful. Although it was a hassel that the first unit failed, the customer service was excellent.Ted
