Kept chicken water bucket open all winter
Kept the chicken water bucket open all winter except once when it was -5 for two days. Good product and am hoping it works for several years. Very well worth it to have no frozen water. Just plug it in and place in the water bucket, just that easy to set up.

no free returns, but great product
The product is great but: We use the fonts/cups which hang on the side of the buckets. . The fonts have only had an 1/8 inch of ice on them when it was 20 degrees. (It thawed completely as soon as the sun was up.) The water in the bucket felt warmish. So far I am pleased with the performance of the item. I only gave 4 stars because when contacting the company I found out if I needed to return the item they would deduct $6.34 from the amount paid. the ad says "free returns."

The media could not be loaded. 5 gallon bucket at 25°FThere was no ice in my (almost full) 5 gallon bucket of water5 gallon bucket at 16°FThere was some ice at the top of my (almost full) 5 gallon bucket of waterJanuary 2024At the time of writing this review, the description says it can keep a 16 gallon bucket ice free... I got ice in a 5 gallon bucket (that's not even all the way full) at 16°FWorks good for my needs, I would buy it again, however I believe the description is a little bit misleading

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT - POTENTIAL DANGER TO YOUR PET OR WILDLIFE
DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT - POTENTIAL DANGER TO YOUR PET AND/OR WILDLIFEI purchased the product in the Fall knowing we'd need it by winter. By the time the product was put into use, the 30 day return window had been exceded. Within 2 weeks of using the product for its intended use, the paint began to chip and the inner material to degrade. A refund was refused by both K & H Pet Products & Amazon - each saying the others policy restricted them from making a refund - even though the product is clearly defective and potentially dangerous. If you read other reviews on the product, the product can quickly degrade to a point where animals receive an electric shock when attempting to drink. This, of course, can condition the animal to avoid water which is also dangerous. We were lucky it didn't get that far.

So far so good
So far so good, we've only had two nights where it's gotten below freezing and while water isn't warm it isn't frozen and I don't have to worry about our girls in the early am. Just plugged it in, put it in bucket and tada!

Great for outside dog water
We have to keep the water outside ofr our dogs because they play in it. This keeps the water above freezing almost all the time. We did have one day that it was fairly thick ice on the top, but it was snowing the day before and the water was filled about a foot above the heater. If there was less water in the bucket, it would probably not have frozen the top. We have had it for one of our worst winters and it only happened once. Great so far!

Keeps water from freezing.
Works surprising well. Not warm to the touch at all, but somehow keeps the water from freezing. Definitely recommend for chicken water feeder in the winter. Would be nice if the cord was a few feet longer. Overall works great.

Kept a small birdbath liquid through a harsh Canadian winter
I bought this to keep a small (11" diameter) birdbath liquid through the winter, and it has managed this just fine despite a solid week where temperatures hovered around -25°C (dipping to -30°C now and then). My photo shows birdbath at its worst - the gap in the center is liquid, fringed in frost. It allowed some ice to form around the fringes but that's not surprising and I actually think that's for the best - wouldn't want stupid birds to have room to completely immerse themselves, then fly off to freeze to death.I have noticed a small amount of corrosion around the screws holding the case together. Doesn't look like enough to cause any actual troubles though. If you're using this for watering a cherished pet perhaps keep an eye on it and clean it every once in a while, but given that the random birds I'm providing this for poop in their own water sometimes I don't think it's worth worrying about.

Water stays cold
I was concerned about the mixed reviews. I have it installed in a 5 gallon plastic of water in an otherwise unheated chicken coop. The weather has been -20 the last couple days and the water is still ice free so I guess I have to say it works however the unit is cold to the touch. Weird but does the trick

Works exactly as advertised
So far it kept the bucket for the sump pump clear of ice.
