Outdoor Photography Magazine review
I received a subscription to this magazine on and off for about 8 years . Recently I let it lapse because the articles were rotated cyclically every year with no fresh info really added to them . More than a one year subscription seemed a waste to me . I always check newstands just in case I am "missing" anything and for the last 4 months I wished that I was a subscriber . The articles were on details of HDR for lifelike scenics and going professional and what made a difference . Also new photographers adding their unique perspective have been added to the writing staff giving the magazine new "blood" as well as more in depth articles actually teaching something instead of metaphysical mumbo jumbo . From what I can see , the magazine ( for whatever reason ) seems to have made a turn around for the better . I am subscribing in January ,with the hope that I will be inspired again like I was when Galen Rowell was contributing . From what the last four months have shown me , that might actually happen .

My Second Favorite Photo Rag
In the pantheon of American photography magazines, I rank this rag as number 2 on my favorite list. It is almost as detailed in its information as is Shutterbug magazine, and for that reason, I always subscribe to both issues. The quality of the print, especially with photographs is second to none, and the articles are pertinent to those of us advanced amateurs. I really enjoy seeing the results of their photo contests, because, unlike the idiots that judge at our state fairs, these people have really good eyes for quality photo entries. I have come to really enjoy their author/photographers when they report on their travels and photography issues. I've enjoyed them so much, I'll often add their destinations to my bucket list of places to visit and photograph. If you read photography magazines, then this rag is definitely for you.

Good information
This is a good magazine, it has good articles (a little too few for my taste) and a lot of product reviews and vendor information. For the nature photographer I think it is a must, they give tips and techniques to help you improve your craft coming from respectable professionals and always include beautiful and top class imagery to get you inspired and it comes with details on them such as gear used, location and others. Overall it is a good investment for the photographer that provides lots of resources to help you and get you inspired.I rated it only 4 out of 5 stars because it has a little too much advertising but it is understandable given the low price you pay for it.

Great Mag, Great Customer Service
You hear it is impossible to cancel subscriptions. Well, not here. I canceled all 6 of my magazine subscriptions two days ago. Outdoor Photographer has already credited my card the difference and is letting me have the next two issues at no cost. The other 5 magazines? I got the email that Amazon sent them requesting my cancelation, that is it.BTW, I found nothing wrong with the magazine. Yes, it has a lot of ads, but what magazine doesn't. Like newspaper, ads pay for the magazine, not your subscription. So instead of looking negatively at the ads, know that it is because of them that the subscriptions are affordable. I found the magazine well written with wonderful photography. I canceled all my subscriptions only because I had no time to enjoy it as well as the others.4 stars for the mag5 stars for the customer service

GOOD SOURCE FOR ASPIRING AND SEASONED OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
No one reference -- whether it is a magazine, a blog, or a book -- is enough to fill in all the knowledge and information gaps for people striving to become and remain accomplished photographers. After a dozen years with this one, however, I'm convinced it makes a worthwhile and regular contribution to ones general literacy and awareness, and the feature stories and even the advertisements make for beneficial reading. At the low cost through Amazon, it would be false economy to ignore it.

Outdoor Photography, mostly ads with sprinkling of articles.
I am a retired professional photographer with a degree from Brooks Institute of Photography, issued 40 years ago at a time when Brooks was actually an accredited college. My impression of Outdoor Photography is that it is a publication consisting mostly of advertisements, with a few articles sparsely sprinkled in . Too many of the articles describe how to create fantasy images from mediocre origins in Photoshop or other post processing software . Some articles border on infomercials, again making this publication more of a catalogue with pretty pictures. To its credit, there are a very few articles devoted to improving technique, which are useless for me, as they are far too elementary.Personally, I believe the combination of a periodical like a B&H Photo catalogue and a subscription to National geographic far exceed the content and value of Outdoor Photography. If you want to learn outdoor photography technique, purchase dedicated material on the subject like, "Moose Peterson's Guide to Wildlife Photography". You'll be much more informed.

Great Magazine for those interested in Photography
Just received my first issue of this magazine. I ordered it in May,2014 so it took a long time for the first issue to arrive! However, my projected date of arrival was early August, so, receiving it towards the end of July was a bonus... I enjoy this magazine very much. The information they give is very helpful and the photos are great. Good read for those interested in photography. Got a very good rate for the first year from Amazon. Ellen P.
