Okay, so it isn't country, well that is okay. There is enough country out there these days.
I see a lot of complaining that Kacey has drifted away from her initial country sound. I feel that the market is saturated with country music these days and a lot of it sounds the same which makes sense since the majority of the music covered by artists comes from the same song writers. I'm thankful that there are those artists that are willing to try other styles of music. The one issue I have with this CD is the Auto-tune/Muffled sound quality. I agree with one other reviewer that it is over processed. As for the songs I think they are well written and performed. Don't rely solely on what other reviewers are saying about this being bland or not country. Give it a listen. It will grown on you, especially if you appreciate music for what it is and not the category that it fits under.

Truly one of the best concept albums of the year.
This album runs a little “poppy” for my usual taste. But once I streamed it on Qubuz I knew I had to buy it for my collection. Kasey has a wonderful voice but it’s the collection of great songs about her recent divorce that sold it for me. All are of consistent high quality throughout. Production values are really good as well. Mastering is a cut above the usual for a work such as this. I enjoy this album for the well written songs but the pleasant, open, sound elevates this album to the next level of enjoyment for me. Highly recommended.

Give it a chance....it will grow on you!!
I have to admit that when I initially heard the first single, I wasn't sold, but I really loved Golden Hour, so I thought I would give it a chance. This is a really solid, great pop album from start to finish. I found that the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me...to the point that there really are no songs that I don't like. And I heard that it was a bit of a concept album, which I'm generally skeptical about, but this one really works and tells a complete story about the start to end of a relationship. I'm giving this 4.5 stars!

Kacey's Pop Crossover
If you are looking for the evolution of "Golden Hour", then its not found in this selection of songs.I for one hate auto-tuned vocals and this album is submerged in Auto-Tune, which is the worse offense of all as Kacey's voice is not in need of this fake somewhat hazy and occasionally murky sound. How are the songs? They are catchy, poppy, and not trying to be "country".IN general there are a lot of keyboard and "loop" sounding tunes on this record. The Golden Hour album was produced with such a beautiful High Rez production value that this album does not contain.Interesting pop album. It has a lot of genuine "country" lyrics, but its not created with a "country" sounding production. If you can remember Leann Rimes ???She also tried to take her country music into the world of Pop, as did Taylor Swift.Taylor succeeded, LeAnn didn't, and now Kacey is giving it a shot.

Kasey's Best Album
I have every album Kasey Musgraves has created and she just gets better and better with each one. Star-Crossed is her best to date. The songs tell stories and describe life situations of happiness and heartbreak in beautiful melodies. Every song is great!

If you like Kasey you’ll like this CD!
Granted it’s not country, but artists need to stretch their wings and I like this CD! Way to go, Kasey!

Another good album by Kacey Musgraves
This album is different from the last few albums by Kacey Musgraves as it has a less of a country sound it to.The album has some catchy songs but when I first started listening to the album I was skipping quiet a few.But after listening to the album over and over, I have come too like nearly the full album. My favourites include “cherry blossom”, “breadwinner” and “gracias a la Vida”Overall this album is slightly different to her previous releases but it still shows off Kacey’s voice and talent of songwriting.

Great cd
All the complaining....A great album it is, with catchy songs. But I fear it will be the last Tashian/Fitchuk/Musgraves project. It would be a shame.

Wrong pressing :(
The media could not be loaded. Really great album and nice sounding on vinyl. However I ordered translucent white and received an opaque white which was quite annoying tbh but other than that great ig
