I was skeptical at first; however, Nikwax actually works. The rain runs off my outdoor hiking/hunting gear similar to a freshly waxed car. I used it on hiking/hunting rain clothes that are at least 15 years old.

I will say, after using it in a wash tub, it sort of cleaned it. I figured I would have better luck going through the wash 3 times using a commercial washer, and it was a little bit better, but it didn't make the white on my jacket pop out. It DID help with the water shedding, but it would have been amazing if it super cleaned my jacket. The jacket is a Rev It Sand 4 H20, and it didn't harm it, only helped it. It is a mesh jacket, so it's safe to use. If this was a bit cheaper or come in bigger bottles, I'd be happy, but I wash my gear once a month, and ride about 900 miles a month, so I need the wash more than others.

Used this on my rain gear and I love it. Had my rain gear on and I started to get slightly wet. Washed my rain gear and treated it with this product and now it repels water and keeps me fully dry. Honestly amazed on how well it works

I have had an off-white soft shell jacket for a few years now that I absolutely love and wear all the time. Unfortunately, it had gotten a stain from when a neighbor's dog gave me a hug with muddy paws last spring. I tried everything to get the stain out: normal detergent, then stain removers, then scrubbing with Dawn, then soaking in various concoctions. Nothing even faded the stain. I even considered just getting a new one, but the new version eliminated several of the pockets, so I made one last effort to salvage my jacket. Several people on Reddit suggested the Tech Wash, so I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't expecting much after all that time, but Merlin, Albus Dumbledore, and all of the Witches of Eastwick couldn't be capable of such wizardry put together. The stain vanished so thoroughly that I couldn't even find where it had been (and it had been there for over 18 months), and another soft shell that I washed along with it came out looking better than when I bought it new 7 years ago. I was ready to give up altogether on one of my favorite jackets, and now I essentially have two brand new ones. This may well end up the best purchase I make all year. I'd give a hundred stars if I could, but 5 will have to do for now.

The DWR had totally failed on my technical clothing and hiking through waist tall grass was leaving me soaked and cold with a long day ahead. I am happy to report that the Nikwax worked great in my front load washer, my buddy used a 5 gallon bucket with very good results. My clothes had water rolling off it likes a ducks back. Would/will buy again.

Did it clean? Did it waterproof? I dunno I still got wet.

I decided to start taking care of my waterproof/water resistant coats. I can see where regular laundry detergent would break down the fibers and I've noticed that none of my coats are very water repellent anymore. I bought the product mainly for the wash. I use the waterproofer, but also spray a hight quality waterproofer on my coats, so I can't fairly judge it.
