This book changed my whole way of thinking about social reform. I bought my first copy as a graduate student, and have recently bought copies for my own graduate students. Mandatory reading for 19th/early 20th c. social/progressive understanding.

this is a phenomenal book that is a necessary read for those interested in feminist theory adn activism.one downfall: lacks cultural/racial events of the time... hard to contextualize it with everything else that was happening in the u.s.
