Superb Drum Even for Littlest Baby
This drum is made by Remo, industry leader in drums, out of fiberskyn, a synthetic skin. It's a mini version of the gathering drums one encounters at Music Together. It's small, 5 inches in diameter, and very light, so that a baby can easily hold it up when grasping the little handle. It's also two-sided, so it can be banged which ever side happens to be up. It makes a nice sound & my baby has been enjoying it since he was 6 months old. The mallet pictured is not the one you get--actually, it's a nicer one, with a durable hard foam bobble on both ends. Over a month of the baby chewing on the mallet, and being stolen by the puppy once, and it's still in excellent shape. The drum also sounds nice when thumping with bare hands. It's made in USA, for those parents who, like me, don't cherish the idea of "Made in China" ending in a baby's mouth. You really can't go wrong with this one!

Great drum for infants !
We bought this drum for our 5 month old. The mallet is the perfect size for her little handles to grab, and she is quite enamored with the fact that the drum makes sound ! Great addition to our musical toy instrument collection. Its well made and baby friendly. Our friend's kids (4.5 and 6 years old) also had a great time playing with this drum when they came for a visit. Fun for all ages !

Excellent quality and durability
I have purchased this item many times - most recently as baby gifts. The Remo Lynn Kleiner early childhood musical instruments are of excellent quality, sound and appropriateness for babies and toddlers. The mallet is easy to hold. It’s worth the extra $ to purchase this line of instruments.

Cute, perfect for my 13-month-old
This drum is a nice size and lightweight enough for my little girl to carry around. It took her a few weeks to get the hang of it (ie, it makes a better sound when you hold it up by the handle, rather than flat on your lap or the floor), but we're happy we bought this for her as a first brithday present.

Tiny
This product is very very dinky, looks like it came from the dollar store! It has nice materials and coloring though.

Good baby toy, with caveats
Babies love banging on stuff, so this is a no-brainer toy. This Remo Lynn Kleiner drum is well-made with cute rainbow coloring and a convenient handle which our baby figured out how to use right away.On the other hand? The drum is so small that it's hard for baby to manipulate, and between the size and the cheap foam mallet, it's a bit too pricey for my liking. For the same fun value, you may as well save your dollars and use an empty oatmeal tub or an upside-down saucepot.Or you could buy a drum by the same maker that's a few sizes larger and will last beyond those first few precious baby months.

Perfect drum for my drumming 7-month-old
We had noticed our daughter seemed to enjoy drumming on anything and everything, so began the search for just the right toy drum. This drum is perfect! It is a real instrument, not just a toy, so its sound is quite pleasant. As soon as she had the drum in front of her, she immediately figured out to hit it with the mallet and then her hand. She loves it so much and prefers it over many of the flashy baby toys she received this Christmas. As other reviewers have mentioned, she is a teether and does enjoy putting the mallet to her mouth. I'm a bit concerned about that and try to discourage it, but even if I have to put the mallet away for a while, the drum is fun for her to hit with her hands and sounds fine that way. We love it!

Needs a Few Improvements, Beater Not As Pictured
Love Remo--but the size of this drum is pretty small, even for a baby. The sound is not very rich and is flat, not too exciting. The beater is bigger than the actual drum and is not the one pictured. It is plain white with a large, plain red foam ball on each side, like a clown nose. Baby would rather teeth on it than use it to play the drum, as it is harder to maneuver than a regular beater. So she uses her hand, instead. Prefer the baby Wave Drum from Hohner, far more exciting for everyone and endlessly fascinating for baby--although it is plastic and more like a tambourine maraca hybrid. After the Remo letdown, I just ended up giving her one of my small frame drums, which is far more thrilling for her, anyway!
