Never buy from this seller
The ear buds stopped retaining charge after about 7 months. I only asked for the invoice so I can take the buds for inspection by Sony and the seller came back saying there is no invoice and no warranty. Dodgy. Stay away from this.

The best earbuds I've had and still going strong nearly 2 years later
These were expensive but when it comes to sound quality and noise cancelling, I don’t want to cheap out and these didn’t disappoint (I think I bought these at full price too at something like 300$). The noise cancelling honestly feels like magic when I turn it on. It still gives me goosebumps. I've used these earbuds nearly every day for like the last year and a half and have had zero regrets in buying them.Pros: Fantastic sound quality, comfortable fit (I've forgotten I was wearing them on occasion), magic noise cancelling, long battery life, durable earbuds, easy touch controls, outside noise isn't blocked at all when ANC is off so others are still easily heard and understood, sound profiles with the app are pretty easy to play around with and offer some good customization.Cons: Foam ear-tips can get really nasty if used at the gym or for extended periods without taking the time to clean them thoroughly, charging case build quality isn't great (creeky plastic and has some give where others are much more solid feeling), possible bluetooth interference from time to time, simultaneous dual device connection isn't really a thing despite the marketing, no tracking method on the case is a bit of a bummer for earbuds this expensive.I’ll jump into the aspects I disliked since they’re easier to write about.I’d tried beats before these and while I also liked those (and at their price points, they are quite competitive) I found these to have superior noise cancelling and were a bit more comfortable to wear for extended periods.I don’t think they’re the most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever used and frankly, if they were any less comfortable I would have returned them and repurchased the beat fit pro’s I’d originally bought and saved a hundred dollars. I did find the Sony pair to be the more comfortable of the two hence why I stuck with them. I think the issue I have with them is that they’re just a bit large and it can be difficult to feel exactly how they’re supposed to sit in your ear. The way you see them pictured isn’t very comfortable for me so I don’t feel like I’m necessarily wearing them “correctly” but they don’t fall out during my gym time and they don’t look like I’m wearing them the wrong way so it’s really just a nitpick. They don’t sit as flush with my ear as I’d have liked. They look fine though in the mirror. I don’t feel self conscious while wearing them in public which I’d worried about when seeing how large they were.*That could make the difference for you if you like to wear earbuds to get some peace and quiet and get a nap in since they’ll be pushing against your pillow and that’ll get uncomfortable very quickly. The ear tip pieces are not the typical silicon material you find on nearly every other set of earbuds, they’re like a type of memory foam. I assume they chose this material to help with the noise cancellation and I’m sure it does provide a better seal between your ear and the outside world but in I’m opinion, silicon would have been better. Reason being that they’re very difficult to clean off the earwax inevitably gets on them. I clean my ears often and you’d think I never did if you caught a glimpse of my earbuds. For whatever reason, the wax really sticks to the foam and it’s difficult to remove. I damaged one of the tips trying to clean it, they aren’t the most durable things.I ended up removing the silicon ear tips from an older pair of earbuds and using them to replace the memory foam tips. I found them to be more comfortable to wear, easier to get a good fit in the ear, and faaaar easier to clean. The degradation of the noise cancellation wasn’t *that* significant. I did flip between the two types of tips a few times to see the difference and it wasn’t much. It’s a personal preference really, I don’t think the tiny loss in noise cancellation outweighs the easier cleaning. **Edit from future me* Good god, please use silicon ear tips. I made the mistake of squeezing a foam ear tip and I discovered that they act just like little sponges where they absorb all the sweat and ear wax that gets near enough. Wiping them down isn't good enough with foam tips.. you have to literally wring them out and wow was that disgusting. That's with *any* foam ear tips though, not specific to these earbuds.I haven’t really messed around with the equalizer settings all that much. I found a suggested setting on YouTube and tried it out and have since increased the bass some but have left the other settings as they were. It’s pretty easy to change them if you’re into that.Battery life seems great. They haven’t died on me yet and I’ve used them for several hours in a session before when I’d listen to podcasts or use them at home to game with.My advice, try the beats pro fit before jumping up to these. Those had great sound quality and noise cancellation but the little silicon but that holds it in your ear became really uncomfortable for me after half an hour or so. If that doesn’t bother you, then you can probably save yourself the hundred dollars and get those instead. I don’t think the improvements in sound quality and noise suppression on the Sony’s is worth another hundred dollars. But again, these are great earbuds and if you’re willing to spend the money, you’ll get fantastic sound, noise cancellation, and a tolerably comfortable fit. Whether or not that’s worth 50% more for over the competition that has almost the same sound quality is up to you.***Update*** 1 year and some months laterI still recommend these headphones. A year on and they're still fanastic for me but there are a few small issues that have cropped up that I'm not sure existed earlier on in my use with them. The most annoying of which is that I will periodically just lose the sound while gaming for a period of 10 seconds or so. It sounds a bit like that trope where someone's pretending they're going through a tunnel and losing the signal so I wonder if I'm getting some kind of bluetooth interference from another piece of tech in my apartment building. It's not an issue that ruins the product or anything but on occasion I have gotten frustrated with it enough that I took them out and used my wired headset for the remainder of my game session.I think another thing to note with these earbuds is that they're easy to drop and the way they fit into the case often means you'll have to pick them back up because you tried to put them in the wrong side. I'm a cluts so naturally have dropped them dozens of times and on hard surfaces but despite that they still work (nearly) flawlessly. The other issue I have with them is that they're marketed as being capable of being connected to two devices simultaneously when in reality, they're really not. You have to jump through too many hoops for this feature to actually work like it's advertised to. It's not a deal breaker but it does mean that if you use them with multiple devices you'll have an extra step to go through to connect them since they'll often end up paired with the wrong one. Disappointing and inconvenient but again, not a deal breaker. They're still great earbuds.

Don't be afraid to replace the ear tips
It is a bit of a story but I hope this helps others if they also experience problems with the OEM memory foam ear tips.First impressions were bad. So bad that I was right away thinking they need to be returned because I found them unwearable. I could not get a comfortable fit with the foam ear tips that came with it. After messing with them for a while I used the Sony headphone app to test all 3 ear tip sizes and it told me which size was best for each ear. So I then used the app to adjust, test, adjust, test until I got a proper seal according to the app. Every time I put them on I had to do at least 3 adjust until the app said I had a proper seal. But it never felt right ... I heard too much outside noise even with ANC on ... and bass was missing --- both are indications of a poor seal. But it was the best seal I could get with the best fitting tip, and they hurt my ears. They hurt my skin where the foam pressed and they never seemed to seal quite right. I didn't look forward to using them, and I had to take them out after only about half an hour. So at this point I was sure I would be returning them. But I had a 10 year old Sony DR-BT160AS wireless headphone so I took the very old and dated tips off them and put them on these XM4 and wow! They were noticeably sealed properly and comfortable! I used the app and they were sealed properly according to the app each time I put them on without any messing around. The bass is noticeably the way the content should be. And the noise isolation was very good even with the ANC off, and of course much better with the ANC on.I am now quite happy with them. They are comfortable and sound quite good. I can wear them as long as any other comfortable fitting ear buds now that I have gotten rid of those foam things.I plan to find some silicone tips that are perhaps more modern with better sound capability, but really, they sound quite good with these 10 - 15 year old silicone tips, and the sound isolation is pretty good.So my suggestion is this:If you find them uncomfortable, or not really blocking outside noise even though the app says they are sealed, then I would strongly suggest trying silicone tips - preferably from another set of ear buds that you know fit right. My other advice is you will need to mess with the sound equalizer and bass. They sound quite unimpressive and dull in the default settings. So take the time to adjust the sound to match your preferences. Mine perked up nicely when I added a little "clear bass" to +3 and added some a small boost to 400 and 1k hz.OK, now about the XM4 ear buds:- They are extremely accurate so you will hear EVERYTHING in a song. So if you have poor quality MP3 then you will hear that. Years ago I recorded some old albums to MP3 and they were pretty good but vinyl has some pops and snaps, and they sure do stand out on the MX4.- As you probably read, you can control pause & next song & previous song --- OR --- volume up & volume down. NOT BOTH. Disappointing, and I think an error by Sony to not allow both controls at the same time. My work around is that I have it set to pause & next song & previous song, and I use google assistant to control volume ... and the ear buds hear "hey google" almost every time, so it really is not a problem for me. So now if I want more volume, then I say "hey google" and then "turn volume up" and it works good, but I still a work around on a bad decision by Sony.- I find "speak to chat" an interesting idea but it is not great. I prefer to pause and turn on ambient sound to chat, and that way it doesn't constantly cut in and out. Interesting concept but I think it needs more work to be practical. The ambient sound turned to highest setting does allow you to talk.- DSEE Extreme (fix losses due to compressing music) seems to work decent but I do find it tires me a bit, so I am leaving it off for now. Mostly it seems to add too much edge or sharpness. But I am still getting used to these new earbuds, so later I intend to play with it a little more.Overall, I am very pleased with how they sound. And that, above all else, is the most important thing.

A worthy upgrade over pretty much any TWS headphones in the market.
I have been following the WF-1000XM4 (XM4 from here on) since their launch and was tempted to get the XM3s, but just could not get used to the way they looked. Suffice to say that I was eagerly waiting for the XM4s and almost ordered them immediately the day they launched, but I already had a competent set of earphones with fairly decent active noise cancellation (Jabra Elite Active 75t).After testing the XM4s and comparing with 75t, I am happy to say that this is a worthy upgrade and right not by far one of the best (top 3) ANC headphones in the market if not the best.Below are some of the features/pros that I feel add to the strength of XM4s.- Active Noise Cancellation- Sony claims industry leading ANC on these and it goes without saying that this claim is absolutely correct. I compared the ANC on XM4 with 75t which was a bloodbath and WH-1000XM3. The noise suppression on XM4 was even a tad bit better than HXM3 once you jam in the eartips in your ears. I cannot use the HXM3 since ANC technology on Headphones gives me migraines (anyone with Vertigo would be susceptible to that), but I look forward to long ANC sessions on XM4 since I did not feel any discomfort.- Sound quality- I thought my 75t sounded good but they now sound like boat headphones in comparison to the XM4s. The volume level is high but not high enough that it will hurt your ears, the vocals are not shrill and tear right through your eardrums, bass is good (you can make it even better with the EQ in the Sony Headphones app). Talking about EQ, while not as robust as other EQ apps out there, it will do the job fine for 99% of the people who end up purchasing these headphones. I haven't played around much with the settings yet and I don't think I will because the presets are already good enough that you don't have to do a whole lot of adjustments to make them sound even better. In addition to the above there are several other pros like the build quality, minimal packaging (recycled material), in-app features, mono headphone functionality, etc. to name a few.Moving on to some of the misses/cons which are subjective and mileage may vary:- Size and weight- These are what people would like to call, a big boi. While Sony has managed to reduce the size compared to the WF-XM3, they are still on the bigger side and heavy. If you have small ears, fitting them in might be a bit of an issue but I think that is something which can be fixed by changing the ear-plugs to smaller size and adjusting the position every time you wear them and tilting them till you find the right spot. Compared to these the 75t felt puny and light.- Earplugs- Not exactly a con, but the earplugs are memory foam. Not used to this material so there might be a curve, but something I feel I should point out.- Limited functionality within the app- This sucks because I would want to have both of these features in one earbud at the same time. If I enable the volume control on the left earbud, I lose the option to enable ANC on/off which is helpful when you have to save battery and you are sitting in a quiet room to begin with. I wish Sony does something about this.Overall, I would recommend these headphones because the pros outweighs the cons (more like minor gripes).
