MSI X570-A PRO does what I need
After putting together the new kit the first thing I did after powering on was to flash the BIOS with the latest version. Doing that was easy and it all looked fine. I then installed Win11 with just an M.2 drive attached. Next step was to attached my SATA drives and bluray reader which meant all 6 SATA ports were populated but ports 5 and 6 weren't working.I knew the PRO board was capable of using all 6 ports when using an nvme M.2 drive so I couldn't figure out why two SATA ports weren't live. In the BIOS no drives were displayed on the two ports so a call was logged with MSI. They confirmed all 6 ports should be working and they asked me to re-flash the BIOS and load the defaults. I had already flashed the BIOS so I shorted the CMOS and loaded the defaults. At that point SATA ports 5 and 6 started working and everything has been fine since then.Apart from that hiccup I have no complaints with this board using a Samsung 980 Pro for the OS, an SSD for Windows temp, pagefile, system logs, browser profiles/cache and a few other bits and pieces.

Great performer and great value for money
I'm primarily a PC gamer so, as tends to happen every 5 years or so, it was time for a major upgrade again. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X was my CPU of choice as it's an outstanding performer for the money, and I already had some nice RAM that I was looking forward to transferring over from my old Intel build, so that just left choosing a motherboard to suit both at a sensible price that also had any other features I might need. (£140 at time of purchase)I couldn't find any indication on the box or paperwork as to which BIOS version was installed, so I decided to flash the latest BIOS from a USB stick before assembling anything just to make sure the 5600X was definitely supported. The whole process went without a hitch and took less than 5 minutes. Just follow the instructions to the letter and it's easy to do.This motherboard fits the bill for me and is easily capable of pushing the CPU and RAM as far as they can go in terms of overclocking. The stories of toasty VRMs may be true if you're running an overclocked 16-core CPU, but it handles a 6-core 5600X at 4.85GHz pulling 120W just fine with the VRMs rarely exceeding 30°C above ambient during extended gaming sessions. My HyperX Predator DDR4-3333 RAM (4 x 8GB) overclocked to 3733MHz at CL16 (1T) with complete stability, and the CPU's Infinity Fabric happily runs at 1867MHz for an ideal 1:1 divider ratio. This setup passes every stress test I can throw at it for hours on end without a single crash or WHEA error, so I'm happy to call the overclock 100% stable.I put a 500GB Crucial P5 Plus PCIe 4.0 SSD in the primary M.2 slot and this returns sequential read speeds approaching 7GB/s, so Windows 10 is about as snappy as it's ever likely to get. The hardware fully supports Windows 11 which my old setup didn't, so that's a nice bonus too.For anyone concerned about noise from the chipset fan, don't be. It's completely drowned out by the very low noise level from the pump on a Corsair H60 AIO CPU cooler. Assuming you have case fans even of the quieter variety, they'll almost certainly drown it out. If you really do need complete silence, there's an option in the BIOS that stops the fan under low load conditions. If you like your bling, this motherboard also has ARGB LED headers. I've set mine so the case lighting is CPU temperature sensitive and adjusted the parameters to give blue when idle, green when gaming, orange when video encoding and red when stress testing. Not strictly necessary, but an attractive and easily visible indicator that CPU temperature is always as expected.Manufacturing quality and the quality of components used appears to be excellent, so I'm looking forward to many years of reliable service from this motherboard. Well done, MSI!

Excellent performance
I’ve had good performance and tuning with this motherboard. As this is the X570S version there is no fan on the motherboard so it runs silently. The motherboard also has some LEDs on it (Bottom right of motherboard pictured above) that can be customised in the bios or MSI software in the OS.

Once the Bios is flashed this is a Rock Solid Mainboard
This review is for the MSI MPG X570S EDGE MAX, Not the X570 Gaming Edge earlier iteration.I purchased this for a new build. The parts included, CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x with Wraith Rgb cooler, RAM: 32gb Corsair Vengeance Pro Rgb, 3200Mhz, PSU: Corsair RM850x. Gpu: Msi RTX 3060 Gaming X 12Gb, SSD M.2 WD 1tb. HDD WD Red, WD Gold. Windows 11. When all this was put together, on a very straightforward install, it booted straight away without a problem, I went into the Bios and if course as I expected the memory was not running at the correct speed so I clicked XMP to sort this out and the Bios was buggy and needed its update. I downloaded the new Bios, flashed it using the MFlash method, and now everything works exactly as it should, with anything I throw at it, including Shadow of the Tomb Raider/Doom Eternal etc high settings, no problems with temps whatsoever. It is completely stable and runs like a dream. Just be sure to flash the bios to the most up to date version. I don't suggest getting the Beta versions though. In my opinion this mainboard is for mid to higher end systems. It's not the cheapest, but it is absolutely worth it. Msi have put together a cracking board here. If you're reading this I'd imagine you've already checked the specs, and know what you would be getting. If stability and features are what you're after. You'll get that here.Highly Recommended
