Factory wheels fit and work perfect
These wheels are an expendable wear item in the personal pace system. These appear to be factory toro parts and are much cheaper than buying them at a local mower shop (sorry but it’s true). Some how-to tips to maximize the life of these things, I generally see 2-4 years of life out of them before I have to change them on both my own equipment and customers/neighbors. Some tips to help increase wheel life. NO LUBE! The plastic they are made from has its own natural lubricity; if you add a wet lube or grease it will: 1. soften the gear and make it wear much faster, 2. Make dirt, grass, and dust stick to it and grind it down even faster, and 3. cause the gear to want to slide apart and thus strip out instead of being pushed thus turned. Clean out the wheel of dust and grass when you change the oil every season. Check the axle engagement. Sometime the deck and or axle brackets can bend and flex, causing the wheel gear not to mesh deep enough into the spur gear on the axle and thus strip out after a very short time. This can be corrected by removing the brackets and bending them on a press (just a little) to bring the wheel closer to the axle.

TORO 8" Wheel Assy
The product was basically a factory replacement. That said, still not a great design, because the internal gears of the wheel are nylon and the drive gear is metal. Even if the alignment is perfect, their will be the friction factor and the nylon will eventually wear down/ strip. It was easy enough to install (Note: I replaced the wheels, drive gears, retaining rings and shims with "new" parts). Worked fine for the first (2) uses, but upon the third use, I noticed a grinding noise. I took everything apart and noticed wear to the internal gearing of the wheels. Therefore, I really can't give these anything higher than a four-rating. To truly improve the design, Toro should have retained using "metal gears " on both the drive and wheel gears!

Not a wheel problem. Easy fix though.
Replaced a total of 3 of these thinking they were junk. The mower just kept eating up the nylon gears. Tonight I ran across a blog from a Toro tech that explained the problem and offered the fix.Problem: The wheel mount brackets bend slightly over time resulting in a misalignment between the wheel and the drive axle.Fix: Remove drive wheels and use a pry bar to bend the wheel mount brackets out (away from the deck) slightly. It was just noticeable to me. Replace the drive wheels and check for a snug fit between the two gears. Repeat if necessary. The wheels are now doing a fine job and the mower is pulling as it did when new.My mower is 7 years old and I run it about 125 hours a year. Still starts first pull and now it drives right again.

Great!
Perfect. Six year old power drive Toro mower was making grinding noises going around corners. Removed the back drive wheels and found that the black plastic sprocket as seen on the inside hub had worn down on one wheel. Ah, the sweet smell of planned obsolescence for the profits of the manufacturer. When you mate a metal drive shaft with a plastic gear instead of a metal gear, that wheel didn't have a chance. Great to know they are readily available on Amazon at a very fair price so I didn't have to waste a weekend searching supply stores and hardware stores.Easy install and fast fix. Get a block of wood or brick and put it under the mower in front of the wheel you are removing so the wheel is off the ground. Get a socket wrench and remove the old wheel, carefully watching how the washers and inside plastic cover come off. Put on the new wheel, washer, plastic cover, line it all up to the dive shaft and axle shaft and re-secure the bolt. Takes 5 minutes and a kid could do it. Test it out to make sure it is working correctly.

be SURE this will work for your mower.
I ordered 2 of these wheels, only to have the plastic gear get tore up. I couldn't return them because they were the wrong wheel for my Toro mower and I damaged them. Be careful ordering replacement wheels for model 20332. That model has 21 different serial number ranges for the years it was produced.

Fit my Toro perfectly and arrived as promised
Overall pleased with the purchase as it was cheaper than most of my local dealers. It was easy enough to replace my old wheels, and if I ever needed to purchase another set, would definitely repurchase with this dealer.

Don't waste you $$$$
I went through 2 of these and then decided there's got to be a better fix. The design of this drive mechanism (plastic ring gear and a METAL pinion gears is for S___. Shame on you Toro.) I've had Toro products forever and swear by them, but this mower, though the motor and blade assembly is good, the drive system just sucks. So, I found a fix on where else, but youtube that involved using a different Toro wheel that has a METAL ring gear. BUT, you must also get a new compatible pinion gear (I think this modification was actually incorporated on the newer personal-pace mowers after so many consumers voiced disappointment with the drive sytem repeatedly breaking-down). I am sorry, but I do not have the youtube address for this video. Here are the part numbers, though, that I bought to replace the wheel and the pinion gear. Everything works GREAT. Make sure you apply grease to the new pinion and ring gears; everything is metal. I bought the parts over the web from "Mowparts" in Texas. These are Toro part numbers: Wheel with metal ring gear #115-2894, Metal Pinion Gear #131-5399. NOTE: my Toro mower is part #20333, serial #310003782. The above parts I listed worked perfectly on my mower. I hope this helps. Tx. //d
