This is a fantastic product which is well designed and functions great - until the rubber button breaks. Here is a tip. Never let it get less than half full. When it is less full you tend to push the button farther in which makes it crack. By doing this I have been able to get them to last for 2 years or more. The good news is OXO is incredible with warranty claims. They state that if you are ever dissatisfied, contact them and they will make it right. I have done this so many times, I am almost embarrassed. Almost! They should be embarrassed that they so far have not fixed the problem. You do not even need to call. Go to the website and send them some photos and boom. Less than a week later a brand new complete retail brush arrives with a new brush head as well. FIVE stars for OXO service and products!

Q: Can you use the sponge heads with this handle, or only the brush type?

We only used the brush type. It should be a great product but the "button" always breaks.

Q: Does this come with the base as shown in the photo?

Yes, it comes with a plastic base to prop up the brush when you're done using it.

Q: Would this work in cleaning tall,narrow bottomed coffee mugs?

I use a OXO bottle brush for that as well as water bottles. OXO makes very nice long lasting bottle brushes. They are sold on Amazon. Hope this helps. This brush that is pictured is too chunky to get to the bottoms of narrow cups.
