I tend to over research when buying products so let me save you all some time. These are very good shoe polishing horsehair brushes. Size is 6 1/2" x 2 1/4, which is a good size. As as I can tell the bristles are 100% horse hair. I've polished 4 pairs of shoes with these so far and experienced very little shedding. You're going to get shedding regardless of what brush you get, but these are so minimal it's not an issue. For $22 you get two brushes. That's a good buy.

OK. Some shedding is to be expected from new brushes. As you can see the Black brush loose a good amount. That is 20 seconds of brushing against just the back of my hand, and there is more on the floor. The light colored brush did not loose even a1/4 of what the black one did. Have to see if they break in or not. I'm hoping they do as they are decent brushes. But with the black one you have to vacuum after using it!

Shed's hair like a dog shedding its winter coat. I shined two pairs of shoes the first day and my desktop was covered in hair. Also, after running the brush over the shoes it didn't bring out any shine at all. I had to go get my old cheap Kiwi brush to bring out a shine. I paid a premium for these because they looked nicer, but go for the Kiwi ones instead. Or go hog wild and get the ones from the hanger project instead.

This brush sheds way too many hairs. I had to vacuum after using it, and then promptly threw the brushes away.

I bought this brush set first off because they say there Made In Germany. I know Germans make some primo stuff but I'm not to sure about these bushes. First time using them both the brown and black bush seem to drop more hair then I excepted. Size of the brush is about right, I just don't know about the hair lost. Hope it's just the first time after manufactured that it drop so much hair. We will see.

Although the brush appeared to be of good quality, I returned it because I only received one brush even though the description indicates a set of two. The brush I received was in a small box that had clearly been separated from another box which supports the argument that this should have been a set. This was very disappointing as the set of brushes was intended to be part of a gift for a family member.
