I did not purchase this for hanging tools, although I might do that later, but for use with a rotary paper trimmer I just acquired. This device came with one rigid strip magnet designed to help keep papers being trimmed firmly in place once carefully positioned, but just one is not enough when the idea is to be very certain of well immobilized paper.The holding power of these strips is very strong, probably requiring a buffer of a piece of chipboard between the strip and the papers to be cut so that the hold will be adequately firm but not so much as to make it overly difficult to detach the strip (or strips) from the trimmer surface. The experimenting I've done since receiving these this morning tells me this will suit the need very well---and at a considerable saving from strips specifically designed to work with rotary trimmers.One final matter. Some have commented in these reviews that the brand strips on the face of the magnets are irritating. I thought so as well but discovered that these brand strips peel off without leaving a residue if it is done very carefully (even pull done slowly and steadily from one end to the other). I removed all four in about five minutes with no gunk residue.

Hey guys and gals! These are really great magnetic bars! They are sturdy, powerful and come with brackets so they can be daisy chained together into a single long run depending on your installation needs! Did I mention powerful? Much better magnetism than I expected compared to Harbor Freight (Pittsburg Forge) units. Great value for the money and you will not be dissapointed, so go ahead and add these to your shopping cart!!! I will be buying these again!

I had asked a question earlier about hole size so I thought I'd follow up here in case someone else has a question. Here's the dimensions of the slightly slotted hole. It's just shy of accepting a 1/4" bolt.....a problem easily remedied for my application with a pistol drill. Good sturdy product.

I used the magnets to hold some shelving boards on my washer/dryer to stop things from falling behind.
