It exceeded expectations!
I bought it for my granddaughter and I am so happy to say she was thrilled. She's played with it, the furniture and little people it came with, every day since she opened it! In fact, her mom and dad are quite taken with it as well (they spent time adding special stickers to the outside to customize it for their daughter). It was like a flash-back to the past for me 'cause it is built of wood rather than plastic. And wood just adds that extra something; maybe it just feels/looks more solid and durable than plastic. And each piece of furniture (also made of wood) was absolutely adorable....especially the little toilet!....you just didn't get dollhouse toilets in the old days...heh heh heh! I will be looking to buy more furniture to add to her set. I will also not hesitate to purchase other Melissa and Doug products in the future.

Excellent for the space conscious.
Lovely compact dolls house for those who have less space to store one.Finished well, painted well, handles are robust. The furniture it comes with is a bit flimsy, the bed was completely broken on our set, not glued properly. However, we didn't complain as its excellent value for money provided it's purchased before Christmas season when the price inflates.However, the Melissa and Doug Castle is a better layout in terms of size, should you be deciding between the house and castle, we have both and the castle is spacious in comparison.

Broken when recieved
We were so excited to give this to our daughter for her birthday but unfortunately when she unwrapped it and we took the plastic cling wrap off we discovered that the item was broken. As we live in Australia and we would need to return the product to the UK it is not worth the return shipping time and costs.
