Fup Paperback – Unabridged, May 1, 2014

This book was recommended to me by an old friend...I could not put the book down, and enjoyed every page...

I loved this story. It's a short novel about a grumpy grandpa, an overgown manboy and an unforgettable duck. I read Dodge's Stone Junction before I read Fup and, like Stone Junction, Fup is filled with colorful characters that you will love. I like Dodge's take on people living on the fringe of our society; living by their own rules and code while wanting nothing more than to just be left alone by the rest of the "normals". One of my measures of a good book is do I wish there was more when I get to the end; in other words, would I still enjoy living in the world of the story and wish there were more pages to turn? My answer is YES!If you are looking for a book about great characters, give Fup a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Was book of the year at our local University and community college several years ago

This is a very short book that would be a great family read aloud (beware of the salty language in spots). Definite laugh out loud passages. I was sorry when it ended.

I read an interview in the NY Times Review of Books with Colum McCann who mentioned this book but was curiously quiet on why. I ordered it and read it and have to say it's a short little read but it is fun and funny. Don't try and understand it; just go with it and enjoy where Dodge takes you. It doesn't make me want to go read more Dodge unless I hear something really good about any of his other books

This book made me cry

The first page is the best first page in American literature. The style is concise, simple, funny and profound.

Entertaining tall tale. Amusing and a clever short read. Something you can take to the beach for light reading. After reading this book I would certainly be interested in reading another by the same author.

A hugely enyable book. Will have you in stitches but also with a touch of pathos. Brilliantly written. A must read for anyone young or old!!

Every now and then I get a copy of this a s a present for a friend. It has everything. It's funny and philosophical and moving and a kind of buddy story with a duck. A shamanic fairy-tale.
