Anybody can buy art!!!
I can't paint, draw, sketch, and can barely do a decent abstract haha. But I feel like an artist on this thing. Its very sturdy, must tighten the knobs properly. put together was easy I'm mechanically inclined groping around for my artistic side. I keep the legs retracted so I can sit at it with a low stool. Back leg is a little cumbersome to get out but once you do it and know how, its eazy peezy from there on out. It looks expensive and performs expensive. Love the color of the wood it's almost exact to the photo. Chalks, Paints, brushes, erasers, everything can fit in that drawer its dimensions are...12"W x 19"D x 1 1/2"H the Brass is a perfect touch that adds a very important amount of class to it IMO. This thing in itself is art.

Solid Construction but Not Easy to Transport
In preparation for a trip to a National Park, I decided to put together an outdoor painting setup. Past easel purchases include an aluminum tripod type, H-frame desktop and a floor-standing H-frame studio easel. This was my first time buying a French easel. The construction of this easel is quite solid and as such represents an excellent value for the money. However, the weak point is the wingnuts and knobs. They are difficult to tighten down because they are so small — even for someone with small hands. Since it is necessary to adjust the wingnuts and turn the knobs each time this easel is put away or set back up, this is not a small consideration.Ultimately, I returned this Tangkula easel and went back to an aluminum easel I purchased many years ago as an art student because it is just too heavy when fully loaded with art supplies to make this practical to lug around. I had never made use of my existing aluminum easel for plein air use because the manufacturer never thought to offer a carrying case. However, it became feasible to transport it once I located beach umbrella carrying case here on Amazon that fits (ASIN B008A0JL3O). At only 2lbs, transporting my aluminum easel is not much more difficult than carrying a folding camp chair. I then put my art supplies in a small backpack and bought a "beach wagon" sold on Amazon (ASIN B0B23ZP74G) to complete my plein air setup.Another option for plein air use— seemingly preferred by the pros — is a Pochade. A Pochade is a box that is affixed to a camera-style tripod. Those setups, while smaller overall, still rely on a wooden box. As such, they were still heavier than my U.S. Art Supply Aluminum Del Mar easel, also sold on Amazon (ASIN B00PR8XMJQ). Additionally, the Pochade box easels do not allow for much flexibility on panel/canvas size — so ultimately I couldn't justify investing in a Pochade setup given that I came up with a solution to transport my lightweight aluminum easel. (A professional "En Plein Air Pro" setup starts at $300 goes up so the "Del Mar" by US Art Supply is a comparatively inexpensive solution for those of us on a tighter budget.)In conclusion, I have come to appreciate that if one is buying this or any other French easel for studio/adult use, there are better options (H-frame desktop or floor-standing model are the more traditional choices for studio use). Although the French easel is a classic design that has been in use for hundreds of years, it is best suited for those who have a limited amount of art supplies (i.e. children) that can be tucked away in the box when not in use — or for those who don't intend to travel all that far with it fully loaded. For those who do not mind the more substantial weight of a French easel over a Pochade, a final advantage of a French easel is that the added "heft" and the wider spread of the tripod-style legs lends itself to better stability in the event of breezy outdoor conditions (by contrast many Pochade users find it necessary to suspend a bag underneath the tripod filled with rocks to keep it from blowing over). Apart from these uses, however, there are better choices than a French easel of any kind for plein air painting.

sturdy, has a handle that is strong enough to ...
I ordered this for a oil painting class. I was shocked at the high quality for the price. Price is much lower than art supply stores. It is well made, sturdy, has a handle that is strong enough to use for carrying. There is a shoulder strap, but I have not used it yet.The wood is not raw wood, all is stained and poly. So it make it easy to keep clean and wipe off paint.Once set up outside, I used it for 3 hours, it was not wobbly, the screws held tight, it didn't tip in the wind.Overall, a very sturdy, well made easel that came with all the screws, washers, bolts, etc. all assembled and ready to go.

Nice easel for the price
This easel was purchased as a gift and was well-liked. It has a nice size storage area and handles for carrying it when it is folded up, so it would be good for taking the easel to different locations if you wanted to. Some of the reviews say that this easel was difficult to set up out of the box, but we had no problem setting it up.A reason for not giving this easel a higher rating is because it is slightly wobbly. I have to wonder if over time (especially if the easel is folded up and reset up several times if it will get even more wobbly. But other than that issue, considering the price, I am happy with the purchase.

A must if you love real wood and sturdy quality
It's really unusual to buy this type of products without seeing them in person (I would definitely recommend to pay close attention to the MEASUREMENTS so you don't end up buying something you thought was bigger) but I think it was a great purchase, the quality is SUPERB and it feels really sturdy, i don't know if you are interested in this information but the way it was pack made it weight a total of 15 pounds but I would recommend a little bit more of cushioning to make sure it doesn't break when thrown by the USPS guys.Pros- Real wood not fake plastic- Superb feeling (feels really premium)- It looks really premium- Works as expectedCons- Cant find any consNote: I bought this for a friend at a price of $49.99, at that price is a steal.

Portable
Bought this easel for my son as a Christmas gift. The package came on time and perfect in condition. I appreciate the manufacturer packed it with all care. It arrived ready to use without any damage. My son loves this gift which is just what he wants. It's portable and easy to be carried anywhere. The tripod stands firmly. For me, I'm satisfied with the quality at this price, it's even better than what I expected.
