Dirty Hand Tools 104306 Post Hole Digger

Purchased the Dirty Hand hole digger to dig post holes for a new wooden privacy fence that was destroyed by Huricain Michael. Began this project earlier this week and boy am I amazed in the outstanding machine. Our soil is mostly red clay and this digger haven't hesitated one bit. Will dig an 8"x30" hole in less than 2 mins. What a time saver. However, this digger takes two people to handle more than a few holes. The torque if tremendous so be careful. Right out of the box, it cranks right up and still going strong after digging over 40 holes.

This thing is pretty darned good. Has enough power to go 2 feet plus in clay, though you have to keep the revs up. When it hits a good sized rock it doesn’t stop—if revved up—but spins out of your hands. Starts easily every time. If I were doing it again I’d try to get it with a 6 inch augur sine the hole ends up being quite a bit bigger than the augur diameter. In my case I was digging holes for 8 inch posts and I think a six inch augur would have done that ok.

For everyone's info, the box mine came in showed a 25:1 gas/oil mixture by using 2.5 oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. That is not enough oil for a 25:1 mix. A 25:1 mix should use at least 5.5 oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas.

Works well, used it by myself without much of any problems.. however it will kick hard if you hit a big rock or root so be careful or have a second person assisting. Other than that this thing worked great had 22 3' deep holes to do in the yard for new 6' high privacy fence and it did it on one tank of mixed fuel. Also easy to dismantle and clean for storage.. great product!

Very well made and exceeded my needs! Not only is this auger a great tool, it also comes with a tool kit and a fuel to oil ratio container!

Did the job in rocky clay soil

This is a work horse. I have a lot of rocks in my soil and had to manually did them out, but the digger did its job and wasn't hard to handle by myself.

This worked great the first 2 times, now it wont stay running. and doesnt dig holes that great. You get what you're buying for the price.
