I’ve bought 2 of these spindles over the past 2 summers. The Spring and Summer season is about 6 months out of the year here. Replacing just one each season is easy enough and it doesn’t break the bank. Some reviewers claim the line doesn’t last more than a month but that all comes down to what you’re trimming. Your basic lawn grass is easy enough to cut through but this stuff isn’t made for the thick stuff. It will cut it but you’ll be going through a lot of line. I use this mostly for trimming the tall grass around trees and lamp posts as well as making a nice edge along the sidewalk and driveway. I see fancier trimmers using thicker line all around my neighborhood. I also see a lot of cedar fences chewed up along the bottom. It’s easy to make this stuff last if you know what you’re doing.

I bought this spool as a replacement spool for one that had literally worn through from bumping so much to adjust the string. Unfortunately, my bump string trimmer gave up the ghost shortly after I received this new spool via Amazon. I bought a new auto feed string trimmer to replace my fried bump trimmer and now I'm left with an unusable spool. I will say that I kept two of these spools on hand for quick change outs when I would run out of line in the middle of a trimming session and they all worked very well. The spools themselves will last about three seasons or more depending on how much trimming you perform each season, and I do a lot of trimming. I guess I'll hold onto this new one and try to sell it spring 2015 via Amazon Market Place.

When I bought my latest Black & Decker line trimmer/edger, I also purchased an extra line spool. Over time, the bump-line type can wear the head of the spool out. Particularly when using around concrete or rocks. This may take several seasons of usage but it can happen. Thus, I have a replacement handy which I know will fit. I also can use the extra spool if I am working and do not want to stop to rewind the spool. I simply pop in the replacement and continue working. Then I can rewind the other spool at my convenience. As far as line or string trimmer spools go, this is an easy one to rewind...single line as opposed to dual, and is easily removed and replaced from the trimmer. The bump-feed also works well.

I get these replacement spools because that's what works with my weed whacker. None of these are that easy to use or that easy to install. Maybe it's because I'm a little clumsy. But as a replacement spool, this does and works as it should.

This was my second time purchasing this item. The first time it was a great product. It was easy to load, it did the job with no breakage or other problems. Unfortunately, my second time around I wasn't so lucky. It broke every 2 to 3 min. I had to physically open it up and rewind the thread to get it to work. It would work for awhile and then the line would break. It was nerve wrecking, but I managed to finish my yard. I practically went through the entire spool, which is a first, but since it kept breaking, it went fast. Hoping this was just a bad batch, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to try it again.

Although I wish I had another hand when I take off the old and put on the new 'string', I'm 69 yo and am able to do it without assistance, just some cursing. The 'bump' part to spool out thread works well, and I hope my weed whacker last a long time.

The unit is easy to install, however I found that the string breaks too easily with harder materials. I have an off brand string supposedly of the the same with but appears to be a fraction thicker. This does not break. This string is good for light grass trimming only.

Shipping was fast. I own a B&Decker ST4500 Grass Trimmer, and this fit perfectly. I could not find it at my local hardware store. Amazon saved the day. Price was similar to hardware store so no complaints.

This was the proper replacement for our weed eater however the particular one we got did not work well with it and was a nightmare to get to reel out of the weed eater. We had to keep rewinding it and at the moment it still not working well.

Don't really know what you want me to say as far as a review goes people... it is a spool of thread that I will not be using until the existing spool of thread expires. I assume it is going to fit perfectly which will be nice since it was made to go into the machine and all.... But really, if it performs as well as the trimmer I bought at the same time I am sure it will be great.

Black and Decker replacement spools are often difficult to find at the stores, so I ordered refills from Amazon. They arrived very quickly at a competitive cost with free shipping. Though it may be more economical to just buy the line and rewind the old spool myself, these refills are professionally wound and will not catch and snag as they are "tapped to go"
